Hidcote Lavender grows best in well-drained soils, with neutral to alkaline pH. Also preferring an open, sunny spot, because lack of sunlight will cause a wide range of problems, as will poor drainage. Full sun is where Hidcote truly thrives.

Being highly drought-tolerant, less is more for Hidcote. Water consistently to establish and after that, only water during extreme drought. For better drainage, add sand in the hole when first planting to aid drainage further.

Trim back in spring to encourage bushier growth and remove any parts that died back during winter. Hidcote should be pruned back the first year. To encourage blooms to return all summer, be sure to deadhead after flowering.
