To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Bare Root Plants
Bare root plants are sold by height from the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may exceed minimum height requirements.

- Shrubs & Perennials: 1 foot, 18 inches, 2 feet

Homegrown cuppa! Usually used to make white tea because of the large buds, the Large Leaf Tea Tree (Camellia sinensis) is an absolutely gorgeous, tropical broadleaf evergreen in its own right! Add burgundy-tinged new growth, great fall color, plus delicate white blossoms, and you’ll have an incredibly unique double-duty shrub or hedge!
Aptly named, the large leathery foliage has pronounced veins and a glossy surface. Each leaf with a delicately toothed edge, the bright green stems turn a warm brown as they age. The white blooms of delicate cupped petals have an explosion of butter yellow stamen in the centers that pollinators are drawn to each fall.
Long used in temperate climates and slopes of China and Japan, Camellia plants have been in cultivation for centuries. These are drought-tolerant, deer resistant and very ornamental plants with a wide range of tolerances, making them perfect edible landscaping additions to the home garden!
Planting and Application:
The large leaves fill out this impressively sized tree, but with some annual pruning you can keep these as modest-sized shrubs, or limb them up into multi-trunked accent trees! Tolerating partial sun to full shade, these are versatile accents and conversation pieces for front or back-yard gardening! Host a tea party with refreshing beverages made from the buds and new spring growth of your plant! Tea leaf plant buds can be dried, fermented, or steamed fresh to make a wide variety of tea types!
The large leaves and dense branching of these evergreens mean fantastic privacy and screening when used as a hedge, shelterbelt or windbreak. The rustling leaves and lovely blooms are sure to dress up any part of your property and reduce noise pollution.

Tea plants thrive in part sun to full shade, but you’ll get the most color from some sun. Provide shade in the afternoons if you are planting this Camellia in the hottest of its climate range. Provide good fertility in very well-drained soil.
