Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age

The extremely durable Korean Pine Tree (Pinus koraiensis) is a great choice for areas with tough weather while still looking good. Wind resistance, cold hardiness, and adaptability are just a few of their hallmarks. Similar to our native White Pine, this choice has a well-balanced, pyramidal canopy. However, Korean Pines have held their blue-toned needles for three years.
This mid-sized evergreen tree makes an excellent screening plant. It's recommended by tree experts and shows a rise in popularity as a "tree that should be planted more". The needles have been used to make a Vitamin C-rich tea, and Korean Pine produces six-inch cones with edible Pine nuts once mature. Much of the world's supply of these small, nutritious Pine nuts is harvested from this species. Press healthy Pine nut oil, a tonic for digestive disorders which measures high in pinolenic acid.
Adaptable in clay soils, and deer tend to leave them alone, but Korean Pine trees make great shelter for birds. They'll race you for the nuts…move quickly to harvest your share late in the season! Hardy throughout USDA hardiness zones 4 to 7, these trees grow 30-50 feet in height and 25-35 feet wide.
Planting and Application:
The pyramidal young form and more open canopy of mature trees are prominent lawn specimens and shade trees! The fluffy texture and large cones create a spectacular focal point both as a solo accent or mixed among windbreaks, shelterbelts, and privacy borders!
Weave them into existing or new hedges to increase biodiversity, which helps protect your overall investment. Plant them 15 feet apart on center, measuring between trunk to trunk of each tree. Stagger a double row for faster privacy screening. Keep the taller Korean Pine at the back, and pop smaller flowering Magnolias on the sunny south side.
Create a screen along the perimeter of your property with a large-scale hedge planting of Korean Pine. Even a single tree planted in the right spot will provide a wonderful feeling of privacy year-round.
- Fluffy Blue-Green Needles
- Large Cones With Edible Pine Nuts
- Pyramidal To Rounded Canopy
- Very Hardy & Adaptable

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Although Korean Pine Trees are not fussy about clay or sandy soils, you will get the best results if you select a planting site in full sun with well-drained soil. At least six hours of sunlight will provide adequate photosynthesis for energy. Provide regular moisture when your tree is young but once established, these Pine Trees can be drought-resistant and very low-maintenance.
Give Korean Pine plenty of space to reach the mature spread. Mulch over the root zone, then pull it back away from touching the main trunk. You'll want to see the lower branches left on the tree in a full, graceful sweep! You can candle prune your Pine in the early spring. All plants appreciate Nature Hills Root Booster and a 3-4 inch layer of arborist bark chips to support their growth.
- Grows Best in Full Sun
- Easy Care In Well-Drained Soils
