Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Fringed in strappy, deeply ribbed, deep-green, glossy foliage, the dense clumps are the perfect launchpad for these giant blooms! The unique broad and pleated foliage looks more like wide green ribbons and bows than leaves! The striking round blooms are full of tightly packed starry florets that pollinators, honeybees, and even a few hummingbirds are drawn to!
Also known as a Turkistan Onion, Karataviense colonizes small areas as the bulb multiplies, creating clusters of these unique blooms that can last for weeks! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 4 - 8, these cold and heat-tolerant flowering Onions are fast-growing and stay low to the ground, unlike their taller Allium cousins!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Loving full sun in cooler climates and appreciating partial shade in hot climates, any rich, well-drained soil is perfect for Allium. Fall-planted bulbs need moderate moisture needs. Any soil type is suitable so long as it is not soggy and add bulb fertilizer to each hole for best results. Despite being a member of the Onion family, there is no Onion smell unless the foliage is broken or crushed. Deadhead to remove spent blooms or try this trick - spray paint the dried seed heads any color you choose for unique garden décor for the rest of the summer and fall!
- Full Sun For Strongest Growth
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade & Prune Mounds After Leaves Yellow
- Deer Seldom Bother Them
Low-growing and showy, the Karataviense Allium is sure to make up for its short stature with sheer whimsy and impact! When you buy bulbs from Nature Hills, you are buying proven landscape varieties. We provide bigger, premium bulbs for better, high-quality results. We will ship your bulbs based on fall planting time for your area.
