The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

How to Use Kahori® Pink Dianthus In The Landscape

Traditional edging and border plants, Garden Pinks add neat and tidy definition along the fronts of garden beds and borders! Small enough to tuck into existing gardens, Dianthus are classic beauties that brighten the landscape.

Acting as filler and spillers in your patio planters and balcony containers, even window boxes are fantastic for these tough sun-loving perennials! For a long-lasting shock of color in early spring, container gardeners can use this versatile perennial no matter the size of their garden!

Spilling over the edges of retaining walls and rambling down slopes. Making those hard-to-mow areas in the sun something special instead of something dangerous or unsightly. Allow to ramble over and cascade on rock walls and soften the tops of hardscapes with their delicate beauty!

Plant into your Cottage gardens and Perennial beds, as edging or facing to tidy up larger plants. These are great for interspercing among larger perennials and shrubs as groundcover too! No Pollinator garden or Heirloom garden should be without a classic Garden Pink!

Rock gardens are perfect locations for these drought-tolerant plants and so will that ‘hell-strip’ along the road where the conditions can be tough on other plants. Plant along your driveway or pathways for a bright greeting as visitors walk up to your front door.

#ProPlantTips For Care

Best in full sun, Dianthus can be evergreen in the warmer USDA hardiness zones 4 through 8. Be sure to provide at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, favoring the drying power of the morning sun. In warmer growing zones, the foliage can often remain evergreen!

Thriving in most types of loose, well-drained soil with moderate moisture suits Dianthus perfectly! Tolerating sandy or rocky, gravel sites, you can bet they perform in your average, fertile garden bed even better! Sitting in water or soggy soil will not suit Dianthus at all.

Provide moderate, but consistent moisture while young plants are getting established. After, these are drought tolerant and tough perennials, but it is best to protect your investment by providing supplemental watering during summer heat and times of drought.

Plant in neutral to slightly alkaline soil with moderate fertility. Mulch to keep the moisture consistent and to better insulate the roots from heat and cold.

Deer resistant and easy care, Garden Pinks have been a landscaping standard for ages and continue to brighten gardens around the world. They are versatile perennials and the only care they require is occasional deadheading to keep those brilliant blooms returning until summer!

Once the large flush of spring blooms has faded, shear the entire plant back some to encourage a second burst of flowering that can last well into late summer!

Versatile, evergreen mounds smothered in unique pink blooms, you’ll adore this fragrant gem as much as we do! Grab enough of this unique variety to complete your landscaping project now before they’re sold out! Head over to NatureHills.com and include the Kahori® Pink Dianthus in your garden beds this year!
