Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Need something primordial or gilded for your garden? Why not both? The Jurassic Gold Wood Fern PP #32735 (Dryopteris wallichiana 'Jurassic Gold' ) is an excellent burst of golden yellow and green for your shaded landscape!
The finely-dissected foliage emerges bright orange in the spring, before transforming into its chartreuse hues for the year, this type of Alpine Wood Fern will often have multiple hues at once with the orangy center new growth, golden older leaves, and green mature leaves as they fill out the upright vase-shaped clumps.
Winning Best New Plant at Horticulture Week Awards in 2019, and second place at the Farwest Trade Show in 2020, the Jurassic Gold is a colorful Fern that grows readily throughout USDA plant hardiness zones 5-9. Spreading taller than wide up to 2 feet, these perennial Ferns are gorgeous foliage plants!
Planting and Application:
A superior choice for shade gardens where Jurassic Gold mixes and mingles with Hosta and Coral Bells, you can have fun playing with their color palette with selections like orange Caramel or gold and red Champagne Coral Bells. The bold leaves of Stained Glass Hosta complement them beautifully. Well adapted to moist soils, plant Wood Ferns on the perimeters of water gardens and water features to add a soft lushness to the design.
Use Jurassic Gold as an understory groundcover, in woodland gardens, under large tree canopies, in the shade of your home as edging throughout narrow side yards for vivid color that catches the eye and enlivens the gloom that shade can often go hand and hand with. Spice up a tired, shaded foundation planting or at the shady base of a weary evergreen hedge.
Well adapted to growing in containers and planters, these are wonderful for decorating covered porches and shady patio seating, bringing a cooling, lush effect to your outdoor garden spaces! Ferns are beloved additions to any landscape! You can even snip a few fronds for beautiful bouquet greenery (or is it orangery?) and enliven a tabletop vase indoors!
- Orange New Growth & Golden Green Mature Fronds
- Dissected Foliage & Vase-Shaped Clumps
- Loves Shade & Moisture
- Great in Containers & Planters!
- Rows, Edging, Beds & Border Color & Specimen Plantings
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Perennial Ferns are easy to grow in the right conditions. Provide partial shade, afternoon shade, or even full shade in the hottest climates to keep these plants growing happily. Any moist, enriched and heavily organic soil will work fine. Provide water throughout the hot summer and drought, plus enrich the soil further with a 3-4 inch deep layer of wood chips over the soil surface.
Divide Ferns every few years to keep the clumps growing vigorously and to remove old plant material. In spring, before new growth emerges, clean up old fronds and prune the mounds back as needed.
- Shade Shade Shade!
- Well-Drained Enriched Soil
- Needs Regular Moisture Access
- Clean Mounds In Early Spring
- Rarely Damaged By Deer
