The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

Growing Zones 4-8
Everyone loves Junipers and with good reason! These tough shrubs grow well in almost any home garden situation. Kallay's Compact Juniper (Juniperus x pfitzeriana 'Kallay's Compact') is a standout in the vast field of Junipers. It is the perfect mid-range size and is an excellent horizontal spreading plant.
As an evergreen, the foliage is attractive year-round and has a classic fresh scent when crushed. Unlike other Junipers, though, the needles of this variety are very soft to the touch. Kallay's Compact Junipers are bright green with a silvery color cast all year long. They do not go off-color during the winter months.
You might be familiar with old-fashioned Junipers which were aggressive and large spreading plants overused for many decades. Well, forget about that! This variety is a compact version of the old-fashioned Pfitzer Juniper. It will behave beautifully for you in your landscape.
Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 8, and grow to a descent 2-3 feet in height and 4-6 feet wide! You'll be excited at the silvery cast the green foliage takes on in full sun. Local birds will appreciate the silvery-blue berries.
Landscape Application:
Use this as an easy-care foundation plant or several planted together as a large ground cover. These make great plantings in masses, so order one or several! Their easy care and year-round color will create large-scale spectacles without the work to support them.
If you have steep, dry, sunny slopes - this is an outstanding choice for groundcover! Imagine a rugged swath of these plants used to perfection in full sun; a much better option than mowing grass, and a lot less dangerous. This is great for eroding slopes and hard-to-mow slopes.
Ideal as a low property defining and as a low hedge and property defining border. This is a fresh, modern plant with a ton of rough-textured, shaggy appeal. It is a great choice for Rock gardens, in xeric sites, and throughout some of the trickiest sites in your landscape.
- Bright Green Needles With Silvery Cast All Year
- Mid-Sized Feathery Evergreen Shrub
- Silvery BlueBerry-Like Cones For Birds
- Handles Xeric & Tricky Garden Sites
- Versatile in the Landscape, Borders, Massing & Container Spillers
#ProPlantTips for Care:
These plants are very easy to grow. They tolerate almost any type of well-drained soil, including clay. Kallay's Compact Juniper makes a great city shrub too because it will handle air and street pollutants like a champ. Hardy throughout any sunny location that receives 6 or more hours of direct light a day. Water regularly throughout the first year but once established, Junipers are drought tolerant and only need supplemental moisture during prolonged heat.
Keeping your Kallay's Compact Junipers looking fresh and natural is simple. Every once in awhile, you may want to shorten up some of the longest branches. Grab the end of the longest branches and trim that branch back into the body of the plant - removing a foot or more. This method of pruning will allow the plant to send out new shoots without sacrificing the natural, feathery form of this fantastic Juniper.
