Hardy Pyramidal Evergreen with Exceptional Color

When you think of a classic evergreen shrub that stands watch by a doorway, or gives weight to the corners of a border, you are thinking of the Blue Point Juniper. Formal, but not rigid, Blue Point takes what is best of a background evergreen and showcases it.

The color stays an exceptional blue-green year-round providing a perfect stage for more colorful annuals and perennials. The shape is naturally a soft pyramid, but Blue Point takes a good shearing like a pro and can be shaped any way you would like. Many of Nature Hills customers train Blue Point into a spiral or a formal cone.

Like most junipers, Blue Point is a trooper when it comes to weather extremes. It stays green during the coldest winter and doesn't look wilted in summer heat. It even does well in the more shaded areas of your landscape.

Maturing into a beautiful pyramidal shape, it is thick and sturdy enough to withstand windy conditions better than most upright junipers, too.

It's deer resistant, so no need to worry about the devastation that foraging can sometimes cause other garden plants.

If you need to freshen up your foundation plantings, flank a garage or fashion a privacy hedge, join with our many satisfied customers and order your Blue Point Junipers today!

I've got pictures of what these look like at age 25 before pruning:

Great for privacy and as a wind block. I have four that have reached Maturity. Mine have blocked the view of the Sandia Mountains here so next week they are getting pruned.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and those impressive photos of your Blue Point Junipers at 25 years old! It’s wonderful to hear how effectively they’ve provided privacy and acted as a windbreak for you—blocking the view of the Sandia Mountains is no small feat.

As you prepare to prune, a good tip is to prune lightly and gradually to maintain the natural shape and avoid exposing too much old wood, especially in mature specimens like yours. Early spring, before new growth starts, is usually the best time to do major pruning on junipers. If you’d like some detailed pruning guides or advice specific to Blue Point Junipers, we have helpful resources on our site or feel free to reach out anytime.

Thanks again for letting us be part of your gardening journey. We’re always excited to support passionate gardeners like you!

We're delighted to hear that their natural shape and hardiness are making such a positive impact along your backyard fence. These evergreens really are champions in colder climates, and it’s great to know they’re providing you with reliable beauty year-round.

The Blue Point Junipers keep their dark green color through the seasons. Bright colored flowers look great in front of them

Hello Andrea,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Blue Point Juniper! We’re thrilled to hear they maintain such a beautiful dark green color throughout the seasons—it really makes for a striking backdrop, especially when paired with brightly colored flowers. For best results, consider complementing them with seasonal blooms like tulips or panies, which can add vibrant, temporary bursts of color that nicely contrast the Juniper’s deep green. If you ever need ideas on which flowering plants combine well or tips for Juniper care, don’t hesitate to reach out!
