Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

The name says it all! The bell-shaped, pale lavender-blue flowers are three-quarters of an inch wide, fragrant, and pop open from soft pink buds. A long-cherished perennial, Stairway to Heaven offers attractive foliage and elegant stalks of nodding blue flowers, lined with more showy leaves, that will bring a refreshing elegance to the landscape!
These showy plants bloom in late spring and early summer, and you won't be the only one to fall deeply in love with this plant! The birds, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators will too! Who can blame them though? This plant is simply incredible!
Planting and Application:

This vigorous, heat-tolerant selection can be planted with other shade garden perennials while holding their own and forming 12-18 inches-tall and wide clumps that can spread politely to fill in between larger plants and fill the bare ground. Also known as Creeping Jacob's Ladder, these are low-maintenance enough for showy mass plantings, hardy enough for use in Rock Gardens, and elegant enough for Cottage Gardens!
Use in sunny or partly shady container gardens and covered porches and patios, Stairway to Heaven shines as a fancy specimen plant, filler, and gorgeous accent when mixed with other perennials and annuals, or as the main feature plant!
Add dramatic edging and facer plants to your garden beds and woodland borders! This vigorous, heat-tolerant selection can be planted with Hosta, Coral Bells, and Ferns in the half-sun/half-shade setting! This variegated Polemonium certainly adds contrast when paired with dark foliage plants!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Polemonium perennials need to be planted in full sun to partial shade areas in well-drained soil that is rich in humus. Hardy throughout a wide range of chilly USDA growing zones 3, all the way up to zone 8! Provide regular moisture for new plants to get them through their first seasons in the ground and top-dress with a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around their base. Deadhead the flowers after they fade, and clean up the mounds in the autumn after frost.
- Loves Full Shade & Partial Sun/Shade
- Well-Drained Humusy Soil - Tolerates Clay
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade & Clean Mounds In
- Easy To Care For Perennials
- Deer & Rabbits Seldom Bother These
