Growing Zones 4-8
The fascinating form of Hollywood Juniper (Juniperus chinensis 'Torulosa') captivates like no other evergreen shrub and will leave you starstruck! This is not a "cookie-cutter" plant - its unique growth habit makes each one a standout to enjoy studying each time you see it.
As your Hollywood Juniper ages, it starts to open up from its youthful cone shape. Over time, amazingly twisted, upright branches reach skyward in a windswept, sculptural fashion. Their fragrant bright green, twisted foliage is dense but showcases a marvelously free-form outline.
The artistic appearance of its twisted, rustic form makes this a wonderful landscape accent. Cold-hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 8, these trees grow 9-12 feet in height and spread 7-9 feet wide for a space-saving yet highly impactful ornamental!
Planting and Application:
Use them as an attention-grabber… they really can't help themselves! Called living flames by many garden designers, Hollywood Junipers truly have that wow factor that so many people want in today's landscapes!
Organic in the extreme, a Hollywood Juniper sets the stage for backyard entertaining. You can easily extend the line of tempestuous Torulosa Junipers with a spacing of four feet apart. Go ahead and create a green ocean of wild waves at the back of your garden border!
Use one as a specimen to greet garden guests with tremendous style points. Uplight into that incredible canopy with strong solar exterior lights to enjoy a dramatic nighttime effect, as well. Hollywood Junipers can be grown in outdoor containers as a thriller and focal point for many years. An excellent evergreen for use as topiary specimens, keep a matched trio on your patio, courtyard, or balcony for a chic display.
Fabulous as the strong, silent type … put the famous Hollywood to work as a contrast to the lavish beauty of Rose bushes. Be sure to plant the taller evergreen to the north side of your flowering plants, so it won't cast shade on them.
Asian-inspired and Zen gardens, Hollywood looks amazing as foundation focal points, hedges, and front yard specimens that deserve raised high on a berm. Stand a pair on either side of your front steps or the path to the backyard. Or create a unique specimen at the end of a winding path as a unique destination.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant in full sun or partial shade with at least four hours of sunlight a day. Water consistently during the first season to get the plants established, and then only in extended dry weather and in late fall to protect against winter damage. Hollywood Juniper requires well-drained soil to stay healthy. If you need to improve drainage, please add extra dirt in a planting mound to raise up the root system of your plant.
Prune in early spring to remove broken branches. Make a pruning plan before you start, and consider the overall shape of your plant to avoid taking too much off in any given year. Fertilize with a formula for evergreens in early spring. Please follow the application rates and timing listed on the label.
Growing in coastal conditions, controlling erosion, and pollution resistance, and easily handling drought, Juniper trees are seldom bothered by deer and rabbits.
