The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones 7 - 9
If you are looking for a wonderful, mounding broadleaved evergreen plant with dark green leaves, you'll want to take a close look at this petite Holly variety. Use as you might a Boxwood in both formal, trimmed use, or grown naturally and more informal - but more tolerant of soils that are not as well drained.
Dwarf Yaupon (Ilex vomitoria 'Nana') is a compact dwarf form and smaller fine-textured evergreen foliage grows into a symmetrical mound. This is a neat and tidy plant that you won't have to fuss over. You'll definitely appreciate the small, shiny leaves and smokey purple stems of the new growth in spring.
This broadleaf evergreen holds its gorgeous leaves all year long. A native shrub in the edge of the coastal forests of Virginia, Florida, and Texas and the open areas along the Mississippi in Arkansas, it is heat tolerant throughout USDA growing zones 7 to 9. This versatile shrub can hold its own without a lot of care or concern on your part. It lives to serve you, beautifully and reliably year after year. Is it any wonder it's so popular?
Planting and Application:
This is an excellent evergreen plant for planter boxes or used as a low, formal hedge. They'll work in large containers with well-drained, evenly moist soil. Give it enough room to reach its mature height and spread, so you won't have to mess with pruning for size. If you've always loved the look of English-style gardens, you'll want to use these effortless plants to provide structure and strong, year-round visual interest. Use these structural plants as the backbone of your garden design.
They can act as an easy-care replacement for Boxwood. They do respond well to pruning and shearing, so feel free to explore more formal designs, such as Knot Gardens or Parterre Gardens that rely on the Dwarf Yaupon Holly to act as a border plant. Plant in a geometric pattern with an open center. What a magnificent showpiece in your landscape!
- Dark Glossy Evergreen Foliage
- Naturally Mounded Form
- Male Plant Produces No Fruit
- Easy Care, Compact & Dense
- Greenish White Spring Flowers
- Incredibly Versatile & Adaptable Borders, Edging, Hedge & Structure
#ProPlantTips for Care:
This plant will grow in full shade to full sun, but the lighter it has, the denser its foliage will be. A minimum of 6 hours works well. A light application of Dr. Earth Life Organic & Natural All-Purpose Fertilizer will be helpful in early spring. Spread it evenly around the plant, following directions. Once established, it is drought and salt-spray tolerant. It will perform best in well-drained, slightly acidic soil conditions, but are quite tolerant of most any soils, including those that can be slightly wet. And as with most shrubs, they love a nice 3-4" layer of mulch over the roots in the bed they are growing in.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Well-Drained Slightly Acidic Soil
- Tolerant of Salt Spray
- Fast Growth & Easy to Prune & Maintain
- Drought-Tolerant Once Established
