Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

The fragrant Lemon Grass plant (Cymbopogon citratus) has been grown for centuries in Southeast Asia. There it is used to enrich and perfume soups, stir-fries, rice and other culinary dishes. Sure, you can sometimes buy it in your local specialty grocery store - if they have it this week. But like most edibles, store-bought can't hold a candle to homegrown!

An unusual addition to herb and kitchen gardens, Lemon Grass is also an ideal landscaping grass in growing zones 9 through 11 where it can remain a tender perennial. Growing around 2 feet tall, add softness and fine texture to landscape beds, containers or even patio and balcony gardens in the sun.

Harvest the fresh leaves to flavor fish, sauces, and even for tea. Traditional seasonings and herbs for Thai and Vietnamese dishes! Even the stalks can be used like bay leaves. Whether you are a cook or not, this is a great addition to any modern garden - big or small. If you need a quick filler, Lemon Grass is a sure bet!

Planting and Application:

Not only is Lemon Grass a great addition to your kitchen garden, but it is a fantastic ornamental plant for your beds, borders and containers. Great bright green filler and fine texture for patio pots and planters, but also soft elements and fragrance around seating areas.

Lemon Grass is perennial in tropical zones and an annual everywhere else. Don't let that deter you from getting it, though. It grows quickly and will add instant beauty wherever you put it. It does fine in the ground all summer. Just dig it up, pot it and bring it indoors to vacation by a bright sunny window for the winter.

  • Fast Growing Ornamental
  • Scented Leaves
  • Fantastic Green Foliage
  • Culinary Uses
  • Houseplant, Containers & Planters

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Lemon Grass needs full sun and very well-drained soil. Loving moderate fertility, it needs less moisture and fertilizer during the winter months if you bring it indoors as a houseplant.

  • Full Sun
  • Very Good Drainage - Indoors & Out
  • Low Moisture Once Established
  • Not Winter Hardy

So, save yourself money and time. Grow your own Lemon Grass at home and spice up your cooking this year! Order your dual-purpose landscape ornamentals today from NatureHills.com!
