Well-behaved Hadspen Blue Hosta RHS was awarded as the winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society. Hardy Hostas throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 9, these lovely little perennials grow 12-15 inches in height and 18-20 inches wide! Planting and Application:
Use them to create sophisticated edging for your partially shaded and full shade landscaping. Grow a circlet of green and white around a specimen plant or statement piece in your shade garden to make it stand out! Hosta works wonderfully under trees and large shrubs to hide the bare stems and branches where Hosta makes perfect groundcover, embracing the shade. They grow in shady spots where your grass will not! Plus, no worry about competing roots.
Shaded spots are the perfect place for a hammock or garden bench. Perfect for shady Asian and Zen-inspired gardens, lending a cool and calming presence to areas for meditation and relaxation. In fact, any garden design looks more peaceful with a few Hostas! Tuck a series of stepping stones between a mass planting of Hadspen Blue Hosta to create a lush glen of lovely form, flowers, and foliage.
Mix these small-scale Hosta with other shade perennials like Tiarella Foam Flower, Coral Bells, and Lamium. They make an excellent contrast to the variegated Stained Glass Hosta and enormous Empress Wu Hosta. Gardeners of all levels will enjoy the designer style and easy success!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant Hosta in both full shade or partial shade with no more than four hours of sunlight a day. It's best to give morning sun and afternoon shade, when possible. Perennial Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Best in moist soil that does not dry out for long. Add a generous 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch chips to keep them cool, moist, and insulated. Wait until the leaves have been exposed to frost and have turned brown before removing all leaf litter in late fall. Divide your perennials every 3-5 years to maintain vigor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do Hostas need full sun or shade?
Hosta does best in full sun in cooler climates but does appreciate afternoon protection from the worst of the summer sun, especially in the hottest of their growing zone range. In the hottest climates, Hosta like partial shade or dappled shade, and some varieties will do great in full shade.
Where do Hostas grow best?
Hosta plants love enriched, well-drained soil that is moderately yet consistently moist throughout the growing season. They appreciate mulched garden beds.
Do Hostas come back every year? Are Hostas a perennial plant?
With vigorous carefree growth, Hostas are herbaceous perennial plants that will return year after year with little maintenance.
What do you do with Hostas in the fall? What do you do with Hostas in the winter?
Hosta leaves will die back after frost but the crowns and roots remain intact and dormant until next spring. Prune back the leaves once they turn brown in the autumn and remove them from the plant's area. For winter protection, add a layer of compost or mulch over the crowns to protect them from the chill.
Do Hosta attract hummingbirds or pollinators?
Hostas are loved by pollinators and hummingbirds! All walks of beneficial pollinators will show up to sip their nectar.
