Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

Live large on your property with correctly planted shade trees. After all, shade in the summertime adds value as a delightful extension of your home.
For a very effective, thoroughly modern look, go with the enchanting arched branches of Green Vase Zelkova (Zelkova serrata 'Green Vase'). The strong limbs grow up, and then expand out in a grand display.
There is very little pruning to do on these pleasing trees. The canopy stays nice and high, and the overall width remains tight and compact.
Green Vase Zelkova grows tall, but stays "right-sized" with a narrow footprint. Even smaller property owners can consider this beautiful option.
They are grown very successfully on wide medians. You'll have plenty of "head room" to park a full-size pickup truck, or place a picnic table underneath.
As a young tree, you'll be impressed with its fast growth rate. Keep it happy and healthy with supplemental water and an annual application of fertilizer.
Lovely, serrated leaves cast dappled shade and reduce your cooling bills. The leaves are a bit larger and lighter green than other Zelkova varieties.
As the cooler weather approaches in autumn, you'll enjoy the luster of bronze, yellow and red tones. Green Vase Zelkova adds to the beauty of the season.
Even in wintertime, you'll enjoy these deciduous trees. The smooth gray bark itself is quite ornamental, with long lenticels that look like Cherry and begin to exfoliate as the tree matures.
These hard-working trees can grace either residential or commercial properties. Order Green Vase Zelkova from the tree experts at Nature Hills today.
How to Use Green Vase Zelkova in the Landscape
Use one as a specimen in the lawn planted on the southwest corner of your property. You'll relish its blissful shade on your porch or patio.
Shade trees add property value, and also help cut cooling costs. Give it room to reach its mature spread without crowding for best results.
It's useful strongly arched form makes it a perfect candidate for use as a street tree. Plant 35 to 45 feet apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next.
In early spring while the trees are young, make a strategic pruning plan to encourage widely spaced branch structure and to maintain a single dominant leader. Green Vase usually needs little pruning because of its fantastic form.
On large properties, consider adding a second row to flank either side of a long driveway. Allow the naturally arching canopies to grow together and touch for a magical, tension-melting experience of homecoming.
#ProPlantTips for Care
These trees are quite adaptable to soil types, as long as they drain well. It does best in full sun, with at least six hours of direct sunlight a day.
We highly recommend you give Green Vase Zelkova plenty of air circulation and a regular schedule of supplemental water. Although established trees tolerate periodic drought, we like to say...protect your investment!
Apply a three-inch layer of mulch over the root system to keep it cool. Be sure to pull the mulch away from the trunk at least six inches for air flow.
This is not a tree to plant too deeply. Read the planting instructions and ensure you keep it planted at the same depth it was planted at the nursery.
Do any corrective pruning in early spring. Work to develop good branch structure with space between branches.
