Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.
Standard Shipping Rates
At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

Enjoy the amazing foliage of Fireside Ninebark all season long. You'll really fall for this dramatic choice!
Coppery to reddish new leaves deepen into a wonderfully vibrant red-purple. Spend time studying the depth of color delivered by these shiny, serrated leaves.
Savvy gardeners look to foliage plants that work hard to underpin the look of the design. Fireside Ninebark takes this act to the next level by producing beautiful blooms, too.
Pink buds are held in clusters at the end of the branches. They'll open into white with a pink overcast and prominent fuzzy stamens.
Cut a few for indoor arrangements. Or simply leave them as nectar-rich resources for butterflies and honeybees.
These rounded, mid-size shrubs feature densely held branching and lush leaves. They make incredible screening plants that never outgrow their space, or make you feel like you live in a fortress.
Even as temperatures dip for autumn, the display continues. That outstanding foliage deepens to a purple so deep it's nearly black.
At the same time, the spring flowers turn into red fruits that are relished by songbirds. You'll feel great about this choice.
Fireside Ninebark shows excellent mildew resistance and is easy to grow. You'll have many, many years of enjoyment without paying a premium in attention or care.

How to Use First Editions® Fireside® Ninebark in the Landscape
These shrubs make an excellent informal hedge at the edge of your property. Define your land with a beautiful dark ribbon of color.
You can decorate and shield your patio seating with an easy-care mulched planting. Plant three feet apart on center, or stagger the planting in naturalized groupings.
Underplant with Clematis vines as groundcover, or you may be able to use durable Periwinkle or English Ivy. We offer many options and follow all plant regulations to protect your local area.
A single Fireside Ninebark softens the corner of your garage. It's also attractive enough to anchor your foundation plantings.
Avid gardeners will want to consider using as backdrop shrubs in mixed borders. That intense color makes a perfect foil for blue or silver-toned and chartreuse plants.
With its unique peeling bark, why not place them along your driveway? You'll have something interesting to study in winter, and they'll help catch blowing snow, too.
Enjoy these stylish shrubs, and let your creativity come out to play!
#ProPlantTips for Care
For best color, plant them in full sun with at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. They need well-drained soil, but can be grown in raised beds to improve the drainage as needed.
Give a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. Apply a three-inch layer of mulch over their roots, and pull it back from directly touching the stems.
Wait until after the flowers are finished to prune to shape. This plant blooms on last year's wood, and you won't want to miss a year of these gorgeous flowers.
You can renewal prune every three years or so. Simply cut out the oldest, fattest stems to the ground; leaving the younger thinner stems to remain in place.
When planting, allow Fireside Ninebark plenty of room to reach its full height and spread. It develops a beautiful upright form.
