Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Exquisite, pink-edged single blooms of Falling Star Camellia (Camellia sasanqua 'Falling Star') are welcome bright spots in the late fall and early winter landscape. Their ruffled charm is especially striking against the dark green, broad-leaved evergreen foliage.

A wonderful size for modern lots, Falling Star grows taller than wide with a densely-held branch structure. Growing at a satisfyingly rapid rate, vigorous Falling Star won't take long to give you a lovely garden screen.

Planting and Application:

Camellia Falling Star is a fine-textured shrub with plenty of petite blooms and small leaves that are subtly toothed along the margins. It can be styled in formal, Asian or Cottage settings with equal success.

  • Use one as a feature plant, or mass several of them as a backdrop. For a solid hedge, place them five feet apart from the center of one to the center of the next.
  • Set the stage with Falling Star behind a sculpture, fountain or high-end container garden. You'll be so pleased how easy it is to achieve a designer look with this elegant choice.
  • This lovely, full-bodied shrub makes a perfect compliment to a water feature. Hide the approach to a pond from a narrow garden path to boost the drama in the moment of entrance.
  • Make showy Falling Star Camellia a key component of a Terrace Garden, as it can be kept in containers for many years. Keep them on wheeled caddies and they'll become modular living walls to shift as needed depending on the size of your crowd.
  • Anchor your foundation planting with sophisticated Falling Star Camellia planted at the corner of your home. Use one, or pair a trio together to match the scale on larger properties.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Camellias do well in morning sun and afternoon shade with at least four hours of sunlight daily. They need well-drained soil, use a raised bed if your soil stays soggy after rain.

  • Use symbiotic Nature Hills Root Booster formula in a planting hole dug twice as wide and almost as deep as the pot. Tap the well-watered plant out of the pot and firm soil around it; then pull pine bark mulch over the top of the root system, avoiding the stems.
  • Water thoroughly after your plant to eliminate air pockets. Keep your Camellias happy and healthy with a consistent schedule of supplemental water during dry weather.
  • Prune in early spring to shape and to remove any damaged branches. Fertilize with a flowering Acid Lovers formula in early spring and enjoy this impeccable landscape asset.
