The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Some gardeners love consistency. Others embrace surprise. Everlasting™ Garnet Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla EVERLASTING 'Kolmgari') will satisfy both! Originally bred for the florist trade in the Netherlands, Everlasting Garnet is an easy-to-grow but tough-as-nails shrub that will fit into any sized garden. It makes a great low hedge, too! It thrives in sun or shade and delivers perfect florist-sized blooms all season long.
And let's talk about those blooms! Strong, thick stems, perfect for cutting, hold up heavy floret-packed flowers. They will eventually fade to have green highlights and finally colder weather will make them turn a striking lime green with prominent pink edges. Everlasting™ Garnet provides months of kaleidoscope-colored bouquets!
Depending on the pH of your soil, the flowers will start out bright pink in alkaline conditions or deep blue in acidic. With the consistent size and strong growth coupled with flowers that constantly surprise you and you've got a Hydrangea that is able to please every gardener! Backed by a dense yet compact clump of toothy deep green foliage, these tidy little shrubs won't take over your entire garden, though you may wish they could once you get a load of the blossoms!
Planting and Application:
Vivid color and small size, the 2-3 foot tall and wide rounded shrubs are perfect for tucking into existing landscapes and using as facer shrubs along the perimeter of larger, leggier shrubs and skirting trees! Use in rows along foundation plantings or as low property division that really boosts curb appeal and catches the eye!
Use this Bigleaf Hydrangea to wake up a tired cottage garden or accent Roses and perennials, these smaller shrubs are perfect to use in mixed shrub borders and as vivid anchors in garden beds. Dress up a mailbox or your front door with bright blossoms, or go further and pot up these in containers and planters for both front and back yard decorating, even if you don't have a yard!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Hydrangea care is simple and easy! You'll look like a gardening pro! Bigleaf Hydrangea thrives in zones 5-9. Have a shady corner in your yard that only gets light a few hours a day? Perfect! This Hydrangea will love this spot! They thrive in partly shaded locations, and morning sun locations with afternoon shade. But these shrubs do well in full sun in the coolest growing zones. Plant your new bush in moist well-drained soil. Keep regularly watered and apply a thick layer of mulch over the roots to keep them cool and moist.
Only prune Bigleaf Hydrangea in early spring to remove winter die-back. Flowering in old wood (last year's) deadhead after Hydrangea have flowered or else you may risk removing next year's blooms. You can renewal prune by removing older, faster, stems that don't bloom as vigorously, cutting them out at ground level.
For blue flowers, Bigleaf Hydrangeas need acidic soil, but alkaline soil will result in pink. Neutral pH may be closer to lavender.
