Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 5-11
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, the Lemon Drop® Evening Primrose (Oenothera LEMON DROP® 'Innoeno131') is a new Evening Primrose that is quickly gaining popularity among gardeners and garden writers. This new selection is covered with vibrant, lemon-yellow flowers all summer, even when the temperatures sizzle!
Featuring a lovely, upright habit with dark-green foliage. The leaves of these perennials are fine-textured and very small, forming dense dark mounds to really set off the bright sunny flowers! The mildly fragrant flowers open for only one day, usually late afternoon but will last until the following morning. Butterflies and bees adore the blooms while they last, buzzing about the intriguing heart-shaped petals in groups of four.
Lemon Drop® is a Proven Winners Perennial and also the recipient of the Editor's Choice Award from Country Living Gardener™! So you can rest assured that these 'brighter than a lucky penny' blossoms will cheer up anyone and anywhere!
Planting and Application:
The bright, Daffodil-yellow flowers of Lemon Drop® blooms do not need deadheading and are a good candidate for hot sunny areas, patios, mixed perennial beds or mixed containers. Fantastic spillers, the mounds droop over edges and garden sides and even soften the tops of retaining walls. Growing a foot or so high and under, these are fantastic edging plants and facer perennials! The brilliant color dramatically sets off everything else around it.
It is best used in front of borders or rock gardens, dry part shade and along that hell-strip by the sidewalk or a driveway. It will add color to wild gardens, meadows, cottage gardens or native plant gardens and thrill you with its easy-care nature. Plant these low-maintenance perennials en masse for a vibrant eye-catching display!
