Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Perk up the look of your landscape with Espresso Geranium (Geranium maculatum 'Espresso'). This exquisite selection adds an eye-opening layer of interest in the high-profile forefront of your plantings. A type of Spotted Geranium, the deeply lobed foliage and saucer-shaped petals face upwards and flower for several weeks!
Let's start with the fascinating foliage. Yes! This desirable cultivar's deeply cut and dark hues do earn that top spot! A mature stand of Espresso Geranium adds a deliciously rich burst of boldness. Retaining their woodland native delicacy and modern breedings' dramatic coloration, this cultivar will have you perking up quickly!
Of course, Espresso Geranium also develops a froth of light pinky-purple, saucer-shaped blooms. Held on stalks above the foliage, these beautiful blooms start in late spring and continue into summer.
The energetic flower power acts as a clarion call for butterflies and bees in your neighborhood. And you'll feel proud to use a modern native cultivar to support our essential pollinator populations with nectar, too!
Planting and Application:
Never jittery, Espresso Geranium brings a mellow, tranquil vibe to your environment. You'll find a zillion places to tuck them here and there! They'll thrive on the edge of the woods, or in a woodland setting where they can get plenty of sun and just a touch of shade.
The leaves emerge from a thick rhizome that forms mounded colonies making an excellent groundcover or mass planting. Plant them 12 inches apart for a tight groundcover that easily enhances your space with a minimum of effort.
In a more utilitarian sense, Groundcover Cranesbill are ideal erosion control perennials, stabilizing soil in hot, dry, sunny banks, and slopes, and transforming a hard-to-mow hillside into a cheerful display! Tough enough for Rock Gardens and in Xeric Gardens, that hell strip along the road, or create mass drifts of pink and green where parched sun-drenched poor soil once lay!
Try them underneath your favorite "Show Off" ornamental tree from Nature Hills! It would be an incredible accent in a shade garden under any of our Eastern Redbud trees, Rose Trees, and large shrubs! Espresso will shine against the light siding of your home, against light green evergreens, and as facer plants around the bases of leggy larger plants!
Small settings are perfect for these space-saving plants, and Espresso adds its dark foliage and bright blooms to your mixed container gardens, as the feature plant in urns, and spilling out of window boxes!
- Beautiful Purplish-Pink Petals
- Incredible Nectar Resource for Butterflies & Essential Pollinators
- Flower Display Lasts Late Spring - Early Summer
- Sophisticated Dark Foliage is a Delightful Contrast to Pale Blooms
- Semi-Evergreen Perennial With Mounding Habit
- Excellent Groundcover, Container Spiller, Borders & Edging
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Geranium needs a full sun area, and in warmer growing zones, they appreciate some afternoon shade. For best results, plant in a dry to moist area in a well-drained site. Appreciating regular moderate moisture, perennial Geranium can be tolerant of periodic drought. Add 3-4 inches of mulch at the base of your plants to help maintain adequate moisture during drier times of the year.
Geraniums are easily divided in spring or fall and help fill your landscape faster. You can deadhead after the first wave of blooms to later enjoy a second! In late autumn or early spring, trim last year's foliage down to a 1-inch length in early spring. Biokovo may be evergreen in warmer hardiness zones. If so, gently rake out fallen leaves to tidy up at that time, taking care not to pull too hard.
- Full Shade or Part Shade
- Very Cold Hardy
- Tolerates Heat & Humidity & Extreme Cold
- Moderate Moisture In Well-Drained Soil
- Prune Back in Late Autumn/Early Spring
- Disease, Deer & Rabbit Resistant
