Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Very heat tolerant and deeply rooted, this tough, broad-bladed grass has fantastic blue-green color all growing season! Staying short and sterile seed heads, you’ll love the low-maintenance nature of your new lawn!

Standing up to foot traffic as well as hot, dry, sandy climates of the Southern US, Empire® is very drought tolerant once established, giving you a green lawn with less worry! Commercial and residential sites will find it’s easier to control weeds with this variety. Plus fewer brown patches in the spring after winter, and longer-lasting green!

Rapidly spreading by stolon's/rhizomes and has a deep, thick root structure and staying only a couple of inches at maturity, you’ll enjoy less mowing! Zoysiagrass is great when it comes to tolerating shade! How Many Plug Trays Should I Order?

NatureHills.com sells grass plugs that are healthy 1 ½ inch square X 2 ¼ inches deep. Empire® Grass is sold by the tray, with 70 plugs in each tray, so coverage will depend on how close you plant them. Recommended spacing is 6 to 12 inches. #ProPlantTips for Care:

Zoysiagrass plugs are Easy to Install. Irrigate the ground thoroughly several days ahead of planting, then maintain soil moisture consistently afterward. Apply a light amount of organic fertilizer. Install by punching 1-inch holes in the ground. We recommend planting the plugs one foot apart. Gently remove the plugs from the tray by pushing them up from the bottom. Do not PULL them out from the top as this may damage the roots.
