Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Known as one of the last varieties to ripen each year, Elliott Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum 'Elliott') produces a bounty of light blue fruit. Pick it early for complex, tangy baking fruit. Or...wait until fully ripe when the fruit sugars explode for a sweet treat fresh from the bush.
These strongly upright bushes hold clusters of flavorful berries that are well-exposed for an easy harvest. Elliott is a beloved favorite that also looks incredible!
Use them in a place of pride, even in formal landscapes. Grow in acidic soil, or use as a valuable "Thriller" in outdoor containers on your balcony, porch or patio.
The ornamental display starts in spring, with beautiful, bell-shaped pink-blushed flower racemes. Burgundy stems hold the newly emerged foliage.
Those new to edible gardening should document the journey from flower to fruit. It's exciting each year!
Clusters of brilliant blue berries develop and darken as the summer wears on. Add early and mid-season varieties to enjoy fresh fruit all season in successive harvests.
Elliott is a very precocious variety. That means you'll enjoy a harvest from a young plant, which is a huge boon to hungry gardeners and their families.
Cherished late season Elliott berries are prized for baking. Their firmness and complex flavor holds up well in pies and tarts.
You can pick for several weeks, depending on your taste preferences. As the berry ripens, fruit sugars develop for a succulent sweet taste. Beforehand, you'll enjoy a balance of acid and sugar that has connoisseurs smiling.
Self-pollinating Elliott can produce up to 25 pounds of fruit with partner plants nearby to help with cross-pollination. Add additional plants for bigger yields.
Elliott berries freeze beautifully. Imagine how great you'll feel with a freezer filled with luscious fruit.
In today's uncertain world, growing fruit at home makes sense. Esteemed Elliott wraps up the season with a bang.
As the nights start growing cooler, the foliage turns an outstanding mix of fiery red, orange and yellow. Some leaves even burnish to seasonal purple. You'll prize the extreme fall color display.
Don't delay in placing your order, as we have a limited inventory and high demand. Order Elliott Blueberry ASAP!
How to Use Elliott Blueberry in the Landscape
With a very erect branch structure, an Elliott hedge would make a charming and noteworthy garden feature. Use near your patio, close to the kitchen door.
Create a hedgerow by planting four to six feet apart on center. You'll measure from the center of one to the center of the next.
Blueberries need acidic soil with a pH between 4.5 to 5.5. Test your soil before you plant in the ground.
You can amend soil to adjust pH, but it takes time and the changes must be done at the root level. If you have alkaline soil, grow Elliott in wide outdoor containers.
If Rhododendrons or Lupines grow wild in your local area, you shouldn't have much trouble. Otherwise, control the soil environment with container culture.
Participate in the Edible Landscaping garden trend, no matter if you own land or not. Keep Elliott and other varieties in lightweight containers on balconies.
You'll gain so much, including a very welcome privacy screen from nearby neighbors. Protect your harvest by securing the containers to the railing.
No matter where you use Elliott, you'll have a fabulous fall color display. Use them near your entertainment area. Maximize a sunny side yard, and spark your neighbors interest with a front yard planting.

#ProPlantTips for Care
Blueberries perform best in full sun to partial shade. They need at least four hours of direct sun and morning sun is best.
Give it well-drained soil that sheds water quickly after a rain or watering. Improve drainage in a raised bed, or plant in containers.
Use wide outdoor pots that fit their shallow roots systems. Add drainage holes and elevate the pot. Please don't use saucers under container-grown Blueberries.
Fill containers with a soil mix designed for acid loving plants. Mix handfuls of peat moss and mulch with pine straw or bark.
Apply a moderate amount of water regularly, especially during fruit development. Use a rain barrel to collect neutral pH rainwater.
Elliott does need hard pruning periodically. Rejuvenate the oldest, thickest stems every few years. Leave the young, productive stems in place.
Fertilize with an ericaceous formula for acid-loving plants in early spring. Follow the directions on the label.
From an early age, Elliott can deliver pounds of great-tasting fruit for you. Place your order for high-quality fruiting plant material for your space this season.
