Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Herbaceous perennial Penstemon does best in full sun and in well-drained soil conditions, preferring average soil types on the lean side. Provide regular water during their first year, but once established, these perennials are wonderfully drought-tolerant and waterwise. Mulch around their crowns well and deadhead after bloom to prevent seeding and to clean up the mounds. Trim all foliage down late fall after frost, and divide every few years to maintain the vigor of the crown.
- Full Sun Blooms
- Average to Low Fertility
- Well-Drained Soil & Appreciates Mulch
- Regular to Low Moisture
- Xeric & Drought-Tolerant Once Established
