This retro beauty offers all the joy and delight one could want in a Rose. The Edith's Darling™ Shrub Rose (Rosa 'WEKaltjuchi') is a medium-sized Rose bush inspired by the hit series Downton Abbey character, Lady Edith. Moreover, it embodies the devotion and affection Lady Edith maintains for her beloved daughter Marigold. These ruffled and cupped Rose blooms have a fresh, fruity scent!

Its antique golden apricot coloration also adds to its romantic and whimsical appeal! And its petals fade from a deep apricot at the center to a muted yellow on its margins. While this Rose is a perfect example of the Downton Abbey Rose varieties, you don't have to binge the series to appreciate the classic elegance and grace of Edith's Darling™ Rose. With a whopping 60 petals that radiate out from its center, reaching a mere 2 to 3 inches, this Shrub Rose is a true star. Your local honeybees and butterflies will seem to agree as they flock to gather nectar among the gilded petals!

Hardy throughout a wide range of USDA growing zones from 5 through hot and steamy zone 10, there is little that fazes this plant!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

This antique-looing Shrub is a decidedly modern Rose with great genetics and disease resistance! She is worth the best possible care and growing conditions, after all! Plant Roses in full sun, with at least six hours of sunlight a day and good air circulation is important. The morning sun is best if you have it! Ensure the soil is enriched and well-drained to enjoy the best performance. Raise the planting bed, if needed to improve the drainage. Use mulch to help keep the roots moist, and avoid splashing water onto the foliage.

Water new plants well, and add a layer of mulch to cover the root system. Please pull it back away from touching the stems. Keep the ground near your Roses hydrated on a regular schedule. Use a soaker hose when possible to avoid splashing the foliage. They also appreciate a schedule of Rose fertilizer, following the instructions on the label. Roses are heavy feeders, with their big, lavish blooms!

Prune Edith's Darling™ Roses in early spring, removing any broken branches. Trim it down by shortening up the canes to 6-8", cutting at a 45-degree angle just above a nice, fat bud. You can also thin out several of the thickest canes down to ground level. This will leave younger, thinner canes to flourish and produce showy, high-centered blooms for you.
