Elevated spring glory! No matter how large or small your yard is, there is sure to be a place for the big impact of the incredibly compact Dwarf Korean Lilac (Syringa 'Palibin') but elevated into a fantastic Tree-Form! These dwarf shrubs have been expertly grafted onto a 36-inch standard for a truly unique spectacle! Standing tall atop the straight trunk, the densely branched, rounded top produces an abundance of showy, full-sized flowers every spring!

Everyone knows you plant Lilacs for their scented blooms, and the pale, purple display put on by Dwarf Korean Lilac really shines! It boosts the spring interest in your landscape in grand form without sacrificing space! You'll love the amazing spring Lilac blooms held on tidy trusses, and the light rebloom later in the season if you haven't pruned after the first flowering.

This deciduous tree-form of our ever-popular shrub has so many blooms, that it appears more violet than green in the spring. Dwarf Korean is a flower-making machine! Fragrant blooms cover each of the branch tips, with the buds a darker purple that opens to lavender and age to a beautiful pale-lavender color. Stock up on pretty vases and use the blooms in cut flower arrangements. They will perfume your kitchen table and sweeten dreams by your bedside! Just be sure to leave enough on the plant for the butterflies!

With ruffled foliage that is dark green on the top and a lighter green underside, so imagine the two-tone effect as they flutter in the breeze. Although, strictly speaking, this is not a plant noted for having fall color, we can tell you that we have seen fantastic reddish-purple fall color on Dwarf Korean Lilac. Especially when paired with the light flush of rebloom in the fall.

Dwarf Korean Lilac Tree-form is a perfect choice to add height and style to your Lilac collection! This Dwarf Korean variety blooms a bit later than French Hybrid Lilacs, extending your spring enjoyment by weeks! With looks and strength, the Dwarf Korean Lilac thrives in a wide range of conditions. It's ideal for urban gardens since it doesn't mind pollution, and it's cold-hardy, so it lasts through chilly winter nights.

Planting and Application:

This beautiful and popular version of the petite patio shrub stands atop a straight and sturdy standard and is so elegant and versatile to readily suit a wide range of garden applications. Use as an accent in a modern foundation planting, dress up a front door or add punctuation to a low hedge or mass planting. Dwarf Korean Lilac Trees also thrive in large planters. Place them in your sunniest spots and show off big time!

If you have a small garden, you need a Lilac Tree to deliver a big show. Whether you live on several acres or a tiny urban lot, you'll find a spot for the elegance and beauty of the Dwarf Korean Lilac Tree! A single specimen transforms a cottage garden or elevates your front berm. Any way you choose to use it, you'll love this compact plant.

Jazz up a side yard or accent the entrance to your backyard with a pair of these Lilacs on either side of the entrance. Add an arbor to feel like you are walking into a magical realm! Accent a patio seating area, or pop a few in fancy pots to create height and give a bit of screening.

Repeat these as accents plants throughout a mixed border. They'll make easy specimen plants, growing naturally into a lovely rounded ball. Try one on either side of your driveway, or plant a single plant in a raised berm to accent the lawn for a curb appeal-boosting focal point.

  • Heavy Display of Fragrant, Light Purple Spring Blooms
  • Sturdy Straight 36-inch Standard Trunk
  • Abundant, Showy, Full-Size Flowers & Light Rebloom in Late Summer

#ProPlantTips for Care:

This wildly floriferous Lilac variety needs a sunny, well-drained spot in your yard to knock your socks off! Sunlight is crucial for the best bloom, so plant in at least 6 hours of direct sun for the best performance. Give young plants a moderate amount of water, carefully checking on the condition of the soil to get them established in that first growing season. Mulch your shrubs with 3-4 inches of arborist bark chips. Add additional soil in a mound 18 to 24 high if you suspect poor drainage. You can plant directly in that mound.

Follow these easy Pruning steps for the best flowering. Likely, you won't need to prune this naturally rounded shrub much at all. If required, first let the plant bloom in May. Then, just as soon as the flowers are done, prune the tips as needed. Only prune Lilacs right after the flowers are done blooming. Pruning later in the summer, fall, winter or early spring before they bloom in spring will only remove the flowers that would have bloomed in spring.

Once the plants get a bit older, do a renewal pruning. Each year after bloom, remove the oldest stems to the base of the grafted standard. You'll leave nice young shoots in place. This practice, when done every few years, will keep your plant healthy and stress-free and bloom like a fool. Keep any branching or shoots from growing along the trunk or from the ground by pruning back completely flush.

If you live with deer in your area, apply repellent spray on planting day. Deer are hungry and curious, and you want to train them to leave your plants alone. Reapply according to the label.
