Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.
Standard Shipping Rates
At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

Have a happy time with friends and family during the Holidays! If you've coordinated the wrapping paper with the bows; and chosen just the right gift for each loved one on your list...you'll want to add living Christmas Trees to your decor.
These sweet miniature Douglas Fir Christmas trees (Pseudotsuga menziesii) bring good cheer to your get-togethers and gatherings. You'll relish both their fresh fragrance and sweet, symmetrical good looks.
The boughs are plenty strong enough to hold lightweight ornaments without drooping. The soft, blue-green needles won't poke your fingers, either!
Add an organic and natural touch to your merrymaking. These small, living trees mix beautiful with seasonal Poinsettia.
Decorate them for your party, then keep them cool and moist. They'll come direct to your door in a nursery pot. Shop for a six-inch cachepot and slip it inside, pot and all.
You can also wrap them in polyfit batting, and then cover them in burlap to recreate Santa's Toy Bag. Finish off the top with ribbons or jute twine.
Several of them can also be grouped together in a larger container. Pot it up, and place it to the side of your front door for a cute accent outdoors. Water the soil well, and let it freeze outdoors.
After your events, place your little trees in an unheated area and water periodically. Plant them in your yard next spring, or donate them to a church or school nearby.

How to Use Douglas Fir in Your Holiday Tablescape
There are so many ways to enjoy living trees all year-long. Here are a few ideas to consider.
Host a fun Children's Holiday party. Let each child decorate their own tiny tree with mini ornaments and take it home as a momento.
Buy one for each party you'll attend. They make a wonderful Hostess Gift.
Or, use one or many for your own memorable house parties. Run those small LED rope lights up and around the branches, and tuck the battery pack under a tiny tree skirt.
A few hours before your event, line them up along your mantle. Place them here and there for a marvelous display.
They also make cheery decorations for corporate parties. Add several on each dining table dressed in the colors of your logo for an easy, sophisticated look. Gift them away at the end of the night as part of a fun raffle.
#ProPlantTips for Care
While you keep your Douglas Fir Tabletop Christmas Tree indoors, please give it bright indirect light. Keep away from sources of heat up until the time of your party.
It's best to keep your plants cool until an hour or two before your party. They will prefer a light, unheated sunporch as a storage spot.
Keep them hydrated, and allow the water to drain completely. Why not take them to the kitchen sink and run cool water to saturate the soil. Let them drain well.
After your events, place them in an unheated porch or garage. Allow them to go dormant until spring, watering the soil periodically throughout the winter months.
In an outdoor setting, give it full sun and well-drained soils. In your yard, gorgeous Douglas Fir brings a strength of character to landscapes from Zones 4 - 6. No need to prune these shapely, fast-growing evergreens.
You'll love having your own living Christmas Tree in your landscape. Enjoy this magnificent native evergreen indoors and out. Order today!
