Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 5-8
The Proven Winners® Color Choice® Double Take™ Pink Quince (Chaenomeles speciosa 'Pink Storm' PP20920) produces a spectacular early spring display! Their large double flowers with intense pink color will make you look twice or do a "Double Take"! Early emerging pollinators too will have their heads whip around as well!
Quince fell out of fashion as a fruiting shrub as of late, but ornamental Quince has enjoyed an increase in popularity! The delightfully tiny green leaves with new growth emerging in light green quickly brighten spring each year, soon followed by those brilliant blossoms! Forming a tidy, dense round shrub 3-4 feet tall and wide at maturity, Quince has a fairly decent growth rate!
Easy to care for and with no thorns or fruit, they work well in smaller modern lots and tight spaces with ease. Once this plant is established, it is very drought tolerant. It may be pruned to any size! Tolerant of climates between USDA hardiness zones 5 through 8, flowering Quince are sure to brighten your landscape big-time!
Planting and Application:
This plant is excellent for hedging, mass planting, and cutting gardens. Double Take would be spectacular as an early-season specimen to kick off your growing season's bloom, including with other spring ephemeral flowering bulbs and Forsythia for a real eye-catching beginning of your year! Accent pollinator gardens, cottage and perennial borders or as a smaller focal point grouping that can be pruned formally. These are fantastic along your home's front property or along a driveway as a friendly fence and border to separate your home from the sidewalk.
Tuck among mixed-shrub borders and as low hedges for privacy. While the smaller size of these delightful flowering plants means they grow well in large maintained planters around seating areas. Stand a pair at the entrance of a pathway or garden gate, or flank the stairs leading up to your front door with these vivid, low-maintenance bloomers!
- Intense Pink Flowers
- Ornamental Quince

#ProPlantTips for Care:
The Double Take Pink is deer resistant. It is heat and drought tolerant and makes a beautiful landscape plant. It will do well in full sun to part shade. Double Take blooms on old wood so do not prune before the spring flowers are spent. Provide a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch to help insulate the roots and hold more moisture in the soil.
- Loves Full Sun, Part Shade & Heat
- Adaptable Soil Type & Moisture
- Any Well-Drained Location
- Low-Maintenance - Prune After Flowering If Need
- Drought Tolerant
For consistent early-season blooms of vivid color, and an abundance of low-maintenance perks for your landscape, you can't go wrong with the Double Take Pink Quince! Hurry and order yours today at NatureHills.com!
