Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

The culinary Dill Plant (Anethum graveolens) is a fast-growing annual herb used in pickling and flavoring many foods! Growing erect, this is a hardy annual and member of the Parsley family.

The large blooms are bright yellow, flat-topped umbles are delicate and lacy! Pollinators adore these landing pads, plus they are herbal smelling and fragrant from top to bottom!

The plant yields two different herbs: Dill seed (the fruit of the plant) and Dill weed (the top eight inches of the leaves). Dill blooms and sets seeds when nights are short and days are warm.

The delicate, feathery plants are blue-green and grow from 3 to 5 feet tall. These lovely blooms, combined with the fine-cut foliage lends an airy, mist-like appearance to the landscape.

So many qualities that make the Dill herb a delightful, useful and ornamental addition to all kinds of landscape designs!

How to Use Dill Plant In The Landscape

Herb gardens benefit from this tall plant to provide upright and airy texture to your Knot gardens and Herb pots. Kitchen gardens of course are perfect for these traditional culinary multi-purpose plants.

Pollinator gardens are fantastic locations for Dill as they are a favorite among butterflies! A host plant for the Anise Swallowtail Caterpillar larvae (don't worry, they won't eat much) and draws many other beneficial pollinators.

Create airy and graceful bouquets and floral arrangements by including these strong, long-stemmed blooms in your Cutting gardens! These add intriguing and delicate texture, both the blooms as well as the feathery foliage, so be sure to plant a few extras for your tablescapes.

Perfectly sized for Container gardening, Dill is wonderful for small patio boxes, planters and balcony gardening. Providing light and airy texture as well as vertical visual presence.

The airy texture means Dill is amazing among your Wildflower and Perennial gardens too! Intersperse as an upright filler among your other blooms, while the feathery foliage and blue-green color are amazing backdrop plants.

Plus Dill is a wonderful companion plant for many plants in your Vegetable garden to draw beneficial insects while discouraging unwanted ones, such as cabbage loopers, aphids and spider mites.

How to Use Dill Seed & Dill Weed

Dill flower heads and seed heads are essential for Dill pickles, while Dill leaves add lively flavor to all types of recipes! Dill is easy to dry or freeze for use all year round.

Dill is a tasty addition to eggs and poached fish, especially salmon! Add fresh Dill to pasta or marinate chicken in plain yogurt and lots of fresh Dill before grilling. Use fresh Dill weed in potato salad, coleslaw, fresh beets, muffins and hollandaise sauce.

Even the flowers are edible! Create gorgeous salads and curious decorations to your plating skills with a few sprigs of both the frilly flowers and leaves! Adding lovely color and fresh flavor to herbed butter and even colorful ice cubes for your summertime drink recipes!

Dill seed improves digestion and appetite and sweetens the breath. The essential oil kills bacteria and relieves flatulence.

#ProPlantTips For Care

Dill grows tall and loves full sun. Preferring soil rich in organic matter, grow Dill anywhere there is well-drained soil. Dill does best in slightly acidic soil, be sure to water well during the worst of the summer growing season for the lushest foliage and largest blooms.

With moderate water needs, it’s versatile and easy to grow! Dill does need to be fertilized in the early spring, this will ensure hearty growth throughout the summer.

Because Dill can get tall very quickly, it may need staking and appreciates being sheltered from winds that can bend its stems.

Dill can self-seed freely so now you can simply remove the flower heads to prevent them from producing seeds if you like. Should the seed heads remain, you’ll enjoy Dill emerging freely each spring from the self-sowing seeds.

Versatile and ultra-low maintenance, add some flavor and beauty to your garden beds with the easy-going and ornamental Dill Plant from Nature Hills Nursery today!
