Where to Plant

• Sunlight: This daylily performs best with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce the most prolific blooms. In hotter climates, a bit of afternoon shade is acceptable and can actually help prevent the apricot color from fading during the intense midday heat.
• Soil: Plant in soil that drains well, as soggy roots can lead to rot. If you are working with heavy clay, mix in compost or peat moss to improve drainage and aeration, or consider planting in a raised bed.

Watering Requirements

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged while your daylily establishes its root system during the first season. Once established, these plants are quite drought-tolerant thanks to their fleshy root systems, though consistent watering during the bud and bloom season will ensure larger and more frequent flowers.

Pruning Tips

Since 'Apricot Sparkles' is a reblooming variety, remove the spent flower stalks (scapes) all the way to the base of the plant after the first flush of blooms to encourage new flower production. In late fall, you can cut the foliage back to within a few inches of the ground to keep the garden tidy and remove hiding spots for pests over winter.
