Plant Taxus hybrids in any sun condition...from full sun to partial shade or full shade. It will tolerate clay and acidic soils if they are well-drained! Add Nature Hills Root Booster in the planting hole for life-long, symbiotic support of the tiny feeder roots.

Help the roots get established during the first season, by watering carefully on a consistent schedule. Use the finger-test near the base of the shrub daily and apply water as it starts to get dry. Before the ground freezes, give your evergreen shrubs a good long last drink for the winter to prevent them from drying out during the winters or suffering wind burn.

You can prune or shear it to control the height, but that's just a quick job once it reaches the height that you would like it to be. Some like to prune the tops into a point for a narrow formal pointed evergreen. Or, let it grow naturally into tall hedges. Older plants can be rejuvenated by trimming out longer portions of the plant back to a part of the stem that still has needles on it.
