Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

The Dapple Dandy Pluot® Tree (Prunus 'Dapple Dandy') is a sweet cross between an apricot and a plum, hence its name! This delectable and somewhat exotic large freestone fruit is essentially a mix of three-fourths plum and one-fourth apricot, with all the sweet juiciness one might expect from such a delightful combination.
Pluots are a fun and tasty option for all fruit lovers, kids love watching the fruit develop, and the sweet taste helps them expand their evolving palates. It is the fruit's spotted appearance and mottled skin coloring that won it the moniker of 'Dinosaur Egg' and 'Dinosaur Fruit'.
Dapple Dandy's exterior is covered in a smooth, shiny skin closely resembling that of a plum. Its greenish-yellow red-spotted exterior develops into a maroon and yellow dapple as it begins to ripen. A regular taste test champion for its distinct plum-apricot flavor! It is a moderately late ripening tree that can be pollinated by the Santa Rosa Plum.
Planting and Application:
The flesh of the Dapple Dandy Pluot is juicy, firm and unexpectedly lovely with an intense reddish-pink hue that fades to a pale pink near its solitary pit. The taste is amazingly sweet with a slight tart finish for the right balance in the mouth. The texture is crisp and firm, yet tender.
The white flowers and lush foliage make these fantastic landscaping ornamentals! Pollinators and curious visitors will constantly be flocking to your tree when it's in bloom and in fruit! Plant on front and center in the front or back yard for shade and double-duty flowering accents!
