Growing Zones 3 - 9
Wavy edges in soft blue-green, the Dancing With Dragons Hosta (Hosta 'Dancing with Dragons') the rippled and undulating leaves with long points. Enjoy the near-white undersides of each leaf when they flutter in the breeze. The blue cast to the leaves adds a cooling hue to the landscape, and the glaucous bloom over the foliage surface adds a touch of whimsy as water readily beads up or pools on the leaves!
Nearly-white flowers on tall scapes top the fountains of soft blue-green in late summer and attract butterflies and occasionally a Hummingbird! Growing to a cascading mound 18 in height, but when in bloom, the flower scapes can grow to 30 inches! The mounds can spread to an impressive 43 inches wide!
Dancing With Dragons Hostas thrive throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9, handling arctic chill in the winter to summer heat and humidity. While handling more sun in cooler growing zones, part shade brings out the strongly glaucous, blue-green leaf color!
Planting and Application:
Watch as Dancing With Dragons Hosta grows into a wide-spreading, specimen and landscape accent for an easy-maintenance shade garden. You'll love the blue wave delivered by these showy foliage plants! Use groupings in at least three, if you can, or run them in a long ribbon of incredible color and texture along the edge of your planting bed.
Grow them in the ground, or a large outdoor container. Just don't miss out on the tremendous splash of visual interest of the Dancing With Dragons! Hostas are eminently collectible, after all. Nature Hills offers so many gorgeous varieties. Mix and match with other Hosta and shade garden ephemerals for a lovely, cooling display!
This sophisticated choice looks great in foundation plantings, as well. Let them fill in any bare spaces with easy blue grace and ruffled charm. Space them 30 inches apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next and enjoy their groundcover beauty.
No matter if you own or rent, you can amplify the beauty of any shady spots in your space. Maybe a corner of your balcony stays dim all day. Or perhaps you are the proud owner of mature trees. Hostas are a fantastic solution to create a dynamic shade garden, Cottage Garden, Moon Garden or perennial border for little effort!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Give Hosta no more than four hours of direct sunlight a day. It performs best in full shade to partial shade. Apply a medium amount of water consistently, especially in times of drought. A 3-4 inch layer of mulch over the root system to keep it cool and damp, but be sure to pull the mulch back away from the stems and crown.
After the summer flowers fade, simply cut the spires back to maintain a manicured look in your landscape. As the season wears on, allow the frost to kill back the foliage. Then, rake or prune away the dry, brown foliage at the end of the season. Please be patient next spring, as these perennials can be a bit slow to wake up for the new season. You'll be thrilled to see the new shoots emerge from the crown! Divide every 3-5 years to maintain the plant's vigor.
- Partial Shade to Full Shade
- Widely Adaptable - Any Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate to Higher Moisture Loving Plant
- Very Easy Care, Cold Hardy & Humidity Tolerant
