Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Standard Shipping Rates

At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. Advance Crocus Bulb plants (Crocus 'Advance'), 15 pack, are a welcome little cold-resistant darling that are just the flower to help usher in spring! Advance features unusual buttery yellow blooms inside with contrasting purple-striped sepals on the outside! Giving each blossom a two-tone effect!

Often shooting up and blooming before the foliage has had a chance to catch up, Crocus are among the first spring bulbs to emerge after a long, dreary winter! Sometimes even poking up through the melting snow. That's just how cold-hardy these little troopers can be! If you can get down on your hands and knees, you'll enjoy the mild, sweet fragrance they emit! You'll also enjoy the early pollinators that find them!

Browse our entire collection of Crocus, or filter your options by growing zone, sun exposure, color and other factors.

Planting and Application:

Use these very low-growing perennial bulbs and their grassy foliage as edging and for early spring color in even the smallest places! Containers and planters that are protected from fully freezing will be perfect for creating an early-season blooming display! Wind throughout garden beds and among larger perennials or shrubs, without worrying the bulbs will interfere with larger roots or vice versa!

Technically known as corms, Crocus bulbs should be planted in early fall before the ground freezes. This can be anywhere from September to November, depending on your growing zone and climate. Plant in a sunny site near a wall or foundation for earlier blooms, or in a shadier location for later emerging bulbs.

  • Fragrant Buttery Yellow Blossoms
  • Purple Stripe Outside of Sepals
  • Dark Green Grassy Foliage Clumps
  • Try Forcing for Winter Décor
  • Great in Containers, Edging, Around Tree Roots

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Growing zones 3 to 8 can leave Crocus plants in the ground, or even in a large planter. This is possible because Crocus bulbs require at least six to eight weeks of what's known as 'chill hours' before they will sprout.

  • Full Sun to Part Shade
  • Moderately Moist Enriched Well-Drained Soil
  • Cannot Tolerate Soggy Conditions
  • Cold-Hardy Perennial Bulb
  • Plant ~2-6 Inches Apart

You can buy Advance Crocus corms and other Crocus bulbs and spring ephemerals for fall planting and NatureHills.com will ship when the time is perfect for planting in your growing zone. Your shipment will come with instructions for planting, care, and storage.
