To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Seasonally, Nature Hills offers hand selected, high quality bare root trees, shrubs and perennials. Bare root plants are sold by height from the top of the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may be taller than the height minimums.

Grow your own luxuriant spice in your backyard with the Saffron Crocus (Crocus 'Saffron') from Nature Hills! These fancy Crocus bulbs feature lovely cupped trumpets of purple-blue petals with darker venation. But the center of each is the highly prized russet stamen that is the source of the seasoning Saffron!
Once more highly prized than gold, each bloom forms just 3 stamens each for you to collect and dry to season your own Mediterranean-inspired dishes! Forming tidy clumps over time and naturalizing freely but politely throughout the landscape, Crocus are fall-flowering bulbs that are as easy to grow as any other! Low-maintenance, these perennial corms thrive throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 10 and handle about any sunny condition except soggy soil.
Planting and Application:
A darling burst of color in the fall, these little bloomers look great as garden edging all spring and summer as their spikey green foliage and tidy clumps line the front of the border or along pathways. Great in pots and planters, these plant-it-and-forget-it little perennial corms that surprise you when they appear late in the season!
Indoors, try forcing these bulbs in cloches or shallow dishes covered in moss for bright and fragrant interior décor. Autumn Crocus can be harvested for their saffron once the flowers open with tweezers and let dry in a dehydrator or use fresh. Flavor both sweet and savory dishes, and drinks, and add color to your baking with these highly sought-after spices!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant in full sun for the most blooms and in well-drained soil with moderate moisture access. Technically known as corms, Crocus bulbs should be planted in early fall before the ground freezes. This can be anywhere from September to November, depending on your growing zone and climate. Crocus bulbs require at least six to eight weeks of what's known as 'chill hours' before they will sprout.
