Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

The Crimson Sunset® Maple Tree PP#21838 (Acer truncatum x platanoides 'JFS-KW202') is a radiant one in a million! Featuring upright, deep purple leaves, Crimson Sunset® will give you the urge to kick back and relax! You could sit there for hours and still not get enough of this magnificent tree!
A gorgeous purple-leafed Maple, with deep coloration and pointed lobed leaves stands out among the greens of spring and summer! This is where Crimson Sunset® excels because of its saturated color, and unlike other purple-leafed trees that can't maintain their beauty throughout the scorching heat, this one thrives in it!
Crimson Sunset® won't fade, burn, or turn brown in the heat and sun when planted in the landscape but will transform into maroon hues for the fall. Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 8, these mid-sized Maple trees grow 30 - 35 feet tall and spread 20 - 25 feet wide, maturing into an upright, compact egg-shaped form.
Landscape Application:
This Maple tree is an exceptional centerpiece of your landscaping and outshines any other purple-leafed tree. Plant yours front and center in your front landscaping where it can glow! Slimmer in profile, Crimson Sunset® shades your home on a west-facing side yard, or shades your back patios and seating areas without taking up too much backyard space!
The Crimson Sunset® Maple is known for its incredible heat tolerance and loves the hot summer months where its purple leaves soak up the warm sun. So feel free to use this jewel-toned gem along the driveway or street (at least 10-12 feet away) without as much worry that your tree's foliage will singe because of the reflected heat.
This Maple tree prefers being planted in rather open areas with plenty of room to let its deep colors shine! A fantastic shade tree and street tree, the smaller size of this dramatic Maple means you can easily share its beauty with the entire neighborhood!
- Deep, Dark Purple Leaves
- Fancy Upright, Oval Shape
- No Scorch Saturated Foliage
- Maroon Fall Color
- Exceptional Landscaping Centerpiece, Shade Trees & Street Trees
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Obviously, this tree adores soaking up the sun, so planting in full sun with well-drained soil will keep your tree as happy as can be! Plant your Maple in rich soil with regular moisture access and 3-4 inches of mulch around the root system. Keep your tree healthy by removing dead and damaged branches in the winter to ensure healthy growth in the months to come.
In the hottest of these trees' hardiness zones, ensure a deep, organically rich site with ample moisture access. Try to avoid planting your Crimson Sunset® by windows, stone or brick walls, and pavement that reflect lots of heat and sun during the summer, because even though this tree handles more sun and heat than others, there's a limit to what any tree can withstand in prolonged heat waves and dry spells. Water your Maple during drought to help keep the leaves looking lush.
- Incredibly Heat Tolerant & Grows In Full Sun
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture Needs
