The Pink Velour® Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica 'Whit III') unique semi-dwarf Crape Myrtle with vibrant pink flowers! It is sure to impress you when its blossoms are contrasted by dark purple-to-green foliage! The distinctive burgundy-colored new growth changes to dark purplish-green as the summer progresses.

This introduction by Carl Whitcomb has dense foliage that will turn a rich orange-brown color in the fall. The bright pink clusters of crepe-paper blooms attract plenty of pollinators and Hummingbirds, as well as anyone driving past your home!

The lovely green foliage and round form of this mid-sized Crape Myrtle shed in the fall after their fall display, but only to reveal the lovely textured bark for winter interest! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 6 to 9, Pink Velour® is a semi-dwarf-sized tree form that grows just 6-10 feet tall, and 6-8 feet wide!

Planting and Application:

Planted as a specimen or in groups, these are versatile shrubs that can be pruned into multi-trunked tree forms! Either way, you will gain a vivid accent for your landscape! These summer-long flowering ornamentals will soften a building corner or anchor a garden bed!

The Pink Velour® Crape Myrtle is ideally suited for formal or informal design in the home landscape, street plantings, and community plantings. For grouping or borders, be sure to space, 5-7 feet apart. Pollinator gardens and Cottage borders gain a long blooming focal point, and you'll love the year-round interest these provide! Pot up in large planters for privacy around a pool or patio seating area, or just to feel secluded while lounging around your firepit in the evening!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Pink Velour® Crape Myrtle is easy to grow and simply needs full sun and well-drained soil. Provide a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Once established, this variety is not only drought-tolerant but also resistant to powdery mildew, making it versatile in a variety of conditions! These shrubby trees appreciate a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the soil surface.

Deadhead as soon as the flowers fade to clean up your plant's look and encourage a rebloom later in the season. Because they bloom on new wood, prune for size and shape during the late winter or early spring.

  • Best Flowering in Full Sun
  • Moderate Moisture - Drought Tolerant Once Established
  • Needs Well-Draining Soil
  • Prune Early Spring & Deadhead After Flowering
  • Deer & Pest Resistant & Easy to Grow!

This beautiful semi-dwarf Pink Velour® Crape Myrtle tree, with its vibrant fuchsia pink crepe flowers, will become a standout in any landscape! Order one today at Nature Hills Nursery!

Single Stem, Multi Stem, Shrub Form, Oh My!

Before you buy, make sure you know what you're getting! Single-stem, multi-stem, and shrub forms are different so read a bit about which we're currently offering below.

Single Stem:

These are plants that have one stem coming from the ground. Plants can also be considered single stems when lower branches are removed to raise the height of the branching. Sometimes, you will hear a single stem referred to as Tree Form.

Multi Stem:

These are plants with 2 or more stems planted together in the ground in close proximity to form a clump. There are times when multi-stems are formed by a tree that branches at the soil line with more than one main stem.

Shrub Form:

These are bushy plants with many stems and branchings close to the ground. They are referred to as shrubs or bushes and are often shorter than their tree forms.
