Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:

Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

Container Plant Sizes

Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Compass Cherry Plum Tree (Prunus 'Compass') is a small dark-red plum/cherry hybrid with loads of flavor and ornamental beauty! From springs clouds of fragrant white blossoms to the dark fruit dangling from the rounded canopy, these are unique fruit trees for some of the coldest growing zones!

Mid-sized trees at maturity, they readily tuck into smaller lots and yards, even for containers and planters when pruned smaller yet! The lush foliage is lovely all growing season and cloaks itself in reds and yellows for the autumn!

Compass Cherry Plum Tree fruit has yellowish-red flesh, is very sweet and very tart! Later blooming, northern gardeners won’t need to worry about a late frost killing off their blooms before they’ve been pollinated by the bees. If the fruit is too tart for you, your local wildlife and songbirds will gladly help themselves to the bounty!

Planting and Application:

Compass Cherry Plums are great for tart snacking, baked goods and preserves! They’re also fantastic for wildlife and sharing! The spring blossoms attract and support many pollinators, while these are picturesque little trees for ornamental edible landscaping in your front or back yard! Self-fertile, you’ll not need much room for one of these easy-care trees!

Cherry Plum Trees flower and fruit best in full sun. Plant in enriched, well-drained soil that has ample fertility and moisture throughout the growing season. Prune as small as needed or let grow to its roughly 10 feet tall height at maturity.
