The Climax Blueberry (Vaccinium ashei 'Climax') is a Rabbiteye-type Blueberry, introduced in 1974 by the experts at the University of Georgia. Since then, Climax quickly became the standard early-ripening Rabbiteye planted throughout the South and Southeast! Producing medium-sized sweet berries with excellent firmness and a classic flavor.

It's often said to be one of the easiest varieties for harvesting! The tight clusters of dark-blue berries are a sight to behold against the bright green foliage. Commercial growers love Climax Blueberry because the fruit ripens over a short amount of time, making a complete harvest easier.

It's also a lovely shrub that produces white and pink blooms in spring for bees, followed by an abundant fruit set. The ornamental value is tremendous with early flowering and early fruiting then comes autumn when the Climax Blueberry is ablaze in brilliant shades of scarlet red!

Planting and Application:

Climax is a moderate grower with an upright form and a somewhat spreading habit. Ideal for use anywhere in the landscape! Ensure food sustainability and privacy with these large plants that are both edible landscaping plants and incredible flowering and fall color accents!

As with all Rabbiteye selections, they are ideal in containers. Climax Blueberries are native to the Southern and Southeastern states and are thus drought and heat tolerant. They are adapted to fluctuating spring weather.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Climax Blueberries are native to the Southern and Southeastern states and are thus drought and heat tolerant. They are adapted to fluctuating spring weather. It only requires about 400 chill hours, and a single plant can produce a substantial crop. Climax is heat and drought tolerant, but for best results, provide plenty of moisture and fertility, plus a thick layer of mulch for insulation. Highly adaptable to a wide range of soil types and higher soil pH to 6.0
