Nelly Moser Clematis: A Shade-Loving, Vigorous Rebloomer

Brighten up shaded areas in your garden with the elegant Nelly Moser Clematis. This award-winning cultivar produces a profusion of large, 8-inch pinwheel-shaped flowers in a striking combination of light mauve-pink petals with deep rose-pink central bars.

Very proliferous flowering in late spring to early summer and again in early autumn! Nelly Moser is one of the most popular Clematis cultivars and will surely brighten any dark, shady area! Awarded Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

Known for its ability to thrive in the shade, Nelly Moser is one of the most popular Clematis varieties, offering a spectacular bloom display in both spring and early autumn.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Showy Blooms: Large 8-inch flowers with pink petals and deep rose central bars.
  • Shade-Loving: Performs best in partial to full shade, preventing color fading.
  • Vigorous Rebloomer: Blooms in late spring to early summer and again in early autumn.
  • Pollinator-Friendly: Attracts hummingbirds with its vibrant flowers.
  • Strong Climber: Growing vigorously 8 - 12 feet in height.

Garden and Landscape Applications

Nelly Moser Clematis is an excellent choice for adding vertical interest to shaded areas. Train it to climb trellises, pergolas, fences, or arbors to create a soft, romantic look!

A true shade lover, making it ideal for spots with morning sun or dappled shade! Pollinators adore these blooms and even bring in a few hummingbirds!

Its vigorous growth also makes it perfect for weaving through shrubs or cascading over garden walls. Pair it with other shade-loving perennials like Hostas or Ferns to enhance its beauty in woodland gardens.

Clematis Care & Maintenance

Clematis are easy-to-grow deciduous vines. Plant yours with Nature Hills Root Booster for life-long root system symbiotic support.

  • Sunlight: Thrives in partial to full shade. When planted in full sun, the vibrant flower colors fade quickly.
  • Soil: Prefers a rich, porous, well-drained soil with ample space for root development.
  • Watering: Maintain even moisture; ensure soil drains well to prevent root rot.
  • Fertilizing: Use a balanced fertilizer in early spring to support growth.
  • Mulching: Apply a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around the base to keep roots cool.
  • Pruning Group 2: These flowering vines bloom on new wood and should be pruned in the early spring.
  • Support: Provide a trellis, arbor, or other vertical sturdy structure for climbing.

For sustained and vigorous blooms, make sure your clematis has its roots shaded (perhaps with mulch or low-growing plants) while waiting for those big, beautiful flowers in the sun or partial sun.
