Invite the warmth of spring into your garden with the Classic Hues Tall Bearded Iris (Iris germanica 'Classic Hues')! This peachy-bronzy-tanned delight floats high above other spring blooms and stands out among other Irises with its unique coloration. If you're looking for a classic beauty that you will look forward to every spring, the Classic Hues Tall Bearded Iris is a no-brainer!
It's easy to see why the Classic Hues is a favorite among iris collectors. It truly lights up the garden as its petals unfurl to reveal bronzy-apricot standards, broad bronzy-tangerine falls, with tinges of flushed rattan, and a white blaze that completes the look! These blooms are voluminous, well-ruffled, and unimaginably romantic in their harvest tones.
With an apricot-glow and sweet fragrance, it's no wonder Pollinators like beneficial bees, butterflies, and Hummingbirds adore this Tall Bearded Iris as much as we do for our cut flower bouquets. As a mid-spring bloomer, it will fill in the gap when your Daffodils and tulips begin to fade. Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 9, and grow about 30 inches in height and 12-18 inches wide once the rhizome clumps are mature!
Planting and Application:
This dazzling Iris is an ideal choice for your Iris bed and looks amazing when paired with chocolate, yellows, and violets! They glow in their sunny garden beds and borders, and shine throughout your dappled shade understory. Classic Hues will also bring in the oohs and aahs when planted around your mailbox, or lining your driveway!
Because Iris are easy to grow and prefer well-drained soil, they thrive and add elegance to Rock gardens, pathway edging, and cut flower borders, or as a highlight to your Cottage garden. Its impressive height makes it a great back border in your perennial bulb bed.
Container gardeners will love having these gorgeous blooms glowing in the sun! Both as a knockout Thriller and vertical element in mixed planters or single specimen feature planting! Both formal and informal gardens benefit from the radiant flowers of the Classic Hues Iris!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant Iris in sunny locations with well-drained soils as they will not tolerate wet or soggy soils. Iris produces bulb-like rhizomes that should be planted near the surface. Add a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch to conserve moisture. Deadhead when the blooms are done but keep the leaves so they can make food for the bulb. You will want to divide them and transplant the new rhizomes every 2-5 years.
Plant your Classic Hues Iris in fall and it will thrive come spring. When planting your Iris, create a small mound of soil and lay the roots downward, then cover the roots with soil and bury the rhizome, leaving the top third above the soil. Water it well for the first two weeks, then cover it with mulch to help protect it from winter damage.
Information About Bare Root Iris
Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots. Container plants are well-grown in the nursery for several years in their container to establish a strong root system.
When planting Iris, which are best planted in early to mid-fall, ensure 1/3rd of the rhizome is exposed to sunlight with the roots buried underneath. Note, that it's best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect it during the coldest months but make sure to uncover them in the spring.
