To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

For a hard-working, beautiful landscape that gives you edible berries, and brings birds to your yard, consider using the native Glossy Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa var.elata) in your design plan. This rounded, upright shrub delivers beauty to your yard for every season of the year.
You'll love the fragrant clusters of snow-white flowers in May. Summer leaves are glossy and dark green throughout the growing season. In autumn, the foliage explodes into glowing orange, rich purple and brilliant red, an eye-catching display!
The healthy, deep berries are produced in clusters. They'll start green, then turn red, then purple and finish black. They'll hang on well into winter unless hungry birds eat the berries before the snow flies. Be warned, you will need to fight the birds for your crop.
Planting and Application:
Aronia are the hottest Superfruit and are so easy to grow! Each plant can produce as much as 30 - 40lbs per plant! Each berry is similar to a small blueberry and ripens in late August. Harvest and freeze them to use throughout the year in smoothies and juicing, muffins and pies, and preserves too! Try dry red wine or try eating them right from the shrub. Just don't forget the sweetener - they're not called Chokeberries for nothing! Freezing helps reduce the astringent character.

This valuable, versatile deciduous shrub grows in sun or shade, and everything in between. However, you'll have the most fruit in full sun. Aronia adapts to just any soil, both wet or dry. It can even tolerate a short period of drought once they are established. Blooming on last year's wood, be sure to prune only when dormant.
