Have you ever seen how a glass artist pulls a red-hot glowing piece from the furnace? If so, you know the appeal of that striking glow. The Chihuly® Rose Tree (Rosa 'WEKscemala'), named for the glass genius Dale Chihuly, embodies that unearthly red hot glow of the most exquisite glass art pieces wrapped up in the form of a tree that looks as delicate as blown glass! These striking blooms feature the variety and painterly nature of blown glass.

This Floribunda Rose is grafted onto a straight, sturdy 2-3 foot tall standard, or trunk, and is described as breathtaking and brilliant! It features a variety of the most enchanting yellows, oranges, pinks, and hints of white. Not only is each bloom a work of art, but the bush as a whole is a masterpiece. As the blooms age, they gently fade, leaving this plant as a dappled delight reminiscent of a painter's palette.

One of the most magical aspects of the Chihuly® Rose tree is that it seemingly changes colors right before your eyes. How does it accomplish this feat? With a butter-yellow base that bursts to salmon or apricot outer petals, these blooms reflect and play off the light. Not only are these Roses strikingly bright, but many present unique striations of golden flashes.

Like the effective scaffolding that holds up a Chihuly glass installation, thick green foliage acts as a perfect support for the beautiful streaked petals. Chihuly® is a Floribunda Rose bush with foliage that stays clean with very modern disease resistance to black spot and powdery mildew. Remarkably heat and humidity-tolerant, Chihuly® Floribunda Rose looks fantastic throughout USDA growing zones 6 to 10!

This amazing Rose offers hours of adoration in both the ground and in a high-style planter. Delight the local butterflies with their nectar. Reblooming in flushes through the season, you'll help support beneficial pollinators, too!

Another interesting way to use this top choice is to create a Destination spot in your landscape. Then tuck it into a secluded sunny corner as a floral reward for taking the unexpected path. This would be a perfect focal point in a Meditation Garden. Keep it in containers to decorate your balcony Yoga studio or reading nook.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Luckily, this fun Floribunda Roses tree isn't as fragile as blown glass. It does appreciate a full-sun location and well-drained soil, though. Ensure the soil drains quickly after rain because Rose roots don't tolerate standing water. If you have heavy soil that stays soggy for a long time, improve your soil's drainage by elevating your Roses in a raised bed or keeping them in containers. Supply Chihuly® Roses with a consistent schedule of watering for best results. This is especially true for container-grown plants.

Elevate them in a raised bed or keep them in containers. Dig your planting hole twice as wide as the roots, but no deeper. Don't forget the Nature Hills Root Booster at the time of planting, to give this fragrant Rose life-long support! Keep the soil level the same as we have grown in at the nursery. Feed your Roses specialty Rose fertilizer. Please follow the label directions for application rates and timing.

Mulch helps keep the root zone cool. Please add a three-inch layer around your plant, then pull it back away from touching the canes. In late November when your Roses have been exposed to killing frosts it is a great idea to mound the stems up with some additional mulch for overwintering (especially important in the colder zones). Always wait to prune Roses until spring when you pull the mulch away.

Rose Tree Pruning

Early each spring, after the last frost has passed, it's always a good idea to prune back the Rose tree several inches to maintain the nice round form atop its trunk. Keep new blooms returning with occasional deadheading, quickly improving your overall display.

Prune away suckers and branching that forms at the base or on the trunk each year too. Pruning Roses allows for better, bushier growth each year. Pruning Roses allows for better, bushier growth each year and stimulates new growth.
