#ProPlantTips for Care:

Tall Garden Phlox blooms best in at least six hours of full sunlight for the most flowers and brightest color, but Cherry Cream also blooms nicely in partial shade. This light-hearted plant won't give you any trouble if you provide well-drained soil. Be sure to give them a regular schedule of supplemental water during their first year and water during a prolonged drought. Give them extra watering before winter.

Apply a three-inch layer of mulch around your plant, but make sure to pull it back from the stems. In late fall after frost, trim the stems back and shape them. Lightly deadhead the first flush of flowers if you want to encourage more flowers later in the season. While no plant is truly deer resistant, they do not prefer the taste of these plants. If you live in Deer Country, be sure to use Deer Repellent during planting, guided by the instructions on the label.

Does Tall Garden Phlox spread?

Most Garden Phlox do spread some but politely so - not getting into trouble and not jumping their borders. Should the clumps become too large you can easily divide them.

Should your deadhead Tall Garden Phlox?

Deadheading Phlox helps prevent some varieties from self-seeding and encourages a rebloom.

Where is the best place to plant Phlox?

What happens to Phlox in the winter?

Phlox are herbaceous perennials that will lose their leaves and stems after frost and die back to the ground. In spring, they regrow from their root systems anew!
