Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Important Notes
Container Volume Specifications
- Trade Gallon Standard: Our containers follow industry-standard "trade gallon" specifications established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI Z60.1) for nursery stock
- Volume Variations: Actual soil volume may vary due to plant root systems and growing medium settlement
- Age Indicators: Container size primarily indicates plant age and maturity rather than liquid volume equivalents
Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment
Seasonal Availability
- Bare root plants are available seasonally when dormant
- Container plants are available throughout the growing season
- Specific varieties may have limited availability in certain sizes

Growing Zones 4-9
Put a beautiful living flame to work lighting up your garden design with Golden Falls® Redbud (Cercis canadensis 'NC2015-12'). This slim columnar candle really heats things up with an incredible display all year long!
Even in winter, the narrow weeping habit will catch your eye. But it starts to truly shine in early spring with bare zig-zagging branches laden with electric lavender-pink blooms! As the season emerges, heart-shaped leaves emerge tipped with orange. In the full heat of summer, Golden Falls® Redbud foliage illuminates to a colorfast golden-yellow that gleams in the sun!
These columnar ornamental flowering trees grow just 8 - 10 feet tall and spread just 3 - 4 feet wide. Allowing any sized garden or container garden throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 9, handling heat and chill with ease! Plus deer and pests seldom bother these unique trees!
Landscape Application:
Like a living exclamation point, Golden Falls® adds emphasis to landscape features! Plant a sentry pair flanking either side of your front doorway...they are excellent conversation starters! Wind several of them in a serpentine line to add a "pop" of whimsy to your garden!
Repeat Golden Falls® along the length of a mixed garden border, as a unique allée behind seating areas or a garden bench. Choose between even spacing or syncopated, varied spacing between the trees for a formal or informal effect! Either way, Golden Falls® delivers a sophisticated edge to your landscape design.
Golden Falls® Redbud makes a spectacular focal point in a Zen Garden or Yoga studio. This makes a wonderful treatment for small space gardens! Even container gardens, balconies, and large planters for front porches and back patios! Anywhere you do use these Golden Falls® Redbud, early-emerging pollinators will benefit as much as you will!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant Golden Falls® Redbud in either full sun or partial shade with at least four hours of light a day. Keep them evenly moist with a regular schedule of supplemental water, especially in dry weather. Redbuds will do best in a planting site with rich soil that drains well after a rainfall. Add a three-inch layer of pine bark mulch spread out to several feet past the canopy. Use symbiotic Nature Hills Root Booster in the planting hole for life-long support that never "wears out". You'll rarely need to prune this slender selection. Prune to shape after the spring flowers are finished for the season.
- Best in Full Sun or Partial Shade
- Well-Drained Soils
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Prune After Flowering
- Deer Seldom Bother These Trees
Romantic and whimsical, the Cascading Hearts Weeping Redbud Tree will be your new crown jewel in your garden! Hurry and order yours today at NatureHills.com!
