Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Growing Zones 5-9
Known for its beauty and excellent quality nuts, the Carpathian English Walnut Tree (Juglans regia 'Carpathian') makes a marvelous addition to an edible landscape or permaculture property. Add a handsome shade tree and boost your food security. Not to mention the amount of shade, protection, beauty and habitat these trees provide!
Delicious, robust-flavored, high-quality nuts will appear with only one tree. It's known as partially self-pollinating, but you'll enjoy a heavier crop with another partner tree nearby. You'll love the way the tree looks, too. Bold branch structure, oval canopy, and lovely, large leaves make a very special specimen in the landscape.
The thin-shelled nuts split down the center, which makes for an easy task of harvest and preparation. The Carpathian nut tree grows larger than other varieties and is very productive. These investment trees can be grown in an orchard to harvest nuts. Many people grow them as a valuable managed stand of timber.
Planting and Application:
Add one to provide shade on the southwest of your property. If you have room, put a few more on the property to cross-pollinate. These trees are easy-care and give so much. English Walnuts do produce juglone, but not in as high a concentration as Black Walnuts. They rarely affect other, more sensitive plants.
Choose a regular planting pattern, or create an informal grouping by varying the spacing from 20 - 40 feet apart on center. With their broad canopy, you'll achieve a wonderful refreshing shade to rest and relax underneath. You're not the only one who will be grateful for this tree! They are incredible habitat, nesting and roosting keystone species for a wide range of wildlife!
- Excellent, Thin-Shelled Nuts
- Smooth Gray Bark & Attractive Branch Structure
- Gorgeous Large Leaves - Large Shade Tree
- Self-Pollinating - Larger Crop With Second Variety
- Highly Productive
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Give these rugged, durable trees a wide-open spot in full sun for best results, because Walnuts have Large Root Systems. They need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Well-drained soil is a must and pay close attention to watering during the first season. After the tree is established in your soil, it requires less supplemental watering.
- Full Sun
- Moderate Moisture & Well-Drained Soil
- Prune When Dormant
- Easy to Grow
- Cold & Heat Tolerant
