#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant in sunny locations and well-drained soils as they will not tolerate wet or soggy soils. Bearded Irises produce bulb-like rhizomes that should be planted near the surface. Add a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch to conserve moisture. Deadhead when the blooms are done but keep the leaves so they can make food for the bulb. As the years pass, you will want to divide them and transplant the new rhizomes every 2-5 years depending on how closely they're planted together.
Information About Bare Root Iris
Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots. Container plants are well-grown in the nursery for several years in their container to establish a strong root system.
When planting Iris, which are best planted in early to mid-fall, ensure 1/3rd of the rhizome is exposed to sunlight with the roots buried underneath. Note, that it's best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect it during the coldest months but make sure to uncover them in the spring.
