Caladium loves bright sunlight but not direct when indoors, and prefers h a bit of morning sun and shade for the rest of the day outdoors. Too much light will cause the vibrant colors to fade and the leaf edges to burn. During their growing season, these plants like rich well-draining soil and to be kept evenly moist but never soggy. A 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch helps hold in moisture and keep the roots cool. Dig the tuberous corms in the fall and store them in a frost-free location for the winter.
