Blue Hill Dwarf Iris (Iris reticulata 'Blue Hill') is a shorter-statured Iris that makes up for its height with incredibly colorful dark-blue blooms! Each smooth petal is accented with a yellow stripe and white streaks that enhance the landscape with beauty and fragrance - without sacrificing space!
Forming small clumps of narrow, sword-like foliage that rises straight from the ground, and in a true orderly formation. Growing just 6-8 inches in height, these vibrant spring ephemeral blooms shine and draw you and your Pollinators in with their alluring fragrance!
This Dwarf Iris is hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9, these little spring plants light up the landscape! Even indoors, these are cheerful blossoms!
Planting and Application:
Clump-forming, dense groups of highly floriferous bulbs form tidy colonies and line beds and borders in beauty! Edge your beds and borders with these lovely blossoms for low thrillers and vertical accents. Incorporate into your Perennial and Cottage gardens of all sizes, and look fantastic when planted in drifts.
Rock garden ready and drifts of low-maintenance Iris are always an eye-catching display! Pollinator gardens too will be fluttering with butterflies! Perfectly sized for containers as upright accents and thrillers, these are just right for small nosegay bouquets or forcing indoors as well!
- Deeply Saturated Dark-Blue Blooms With Yellow & White Accents
- Dense Floriferous Clumps
- Spikey Vertical Green Foliage
- Very Fragrant Early Spring Brilliance
- Containers, Edging, Front of the Garden Border & Forcing Indoors
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant in sunny locations and well-drained soils as they will not tolerate wet or soggy soils. Dwarf Iris produces bulb-like rhizomes that should be planted about 4 inches deep (unlike the Tall Bearded Iris which produces rhizomes that are planted near the surface). Deadhead when the blooms are done but keep the leaves so they can make food for the bulb. Add a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch to conserve moisture. As the years pass, you will want to divide them and transplant the new rhizomes every 2-5 years depending on how closely they're planted together.
- Sunny Gardens & Containers
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate to Low Moisture Needs
- Deadhead In Spring & Prune Back After Foliage Yellows
- Easy Care & Low Maintenance
