The Bloomerang® Lilac (Syringa x 'Penda') is one of the most productive and consistent, re-blooming Lilacs. Most Lilacs range in color from pink to red-purple making the color of the Bloomerang® quite unusual and very popular. Its first bloom period appears in mid-May, a spectacular show of large, lavender-pink, fragrant clusters of flowers. These sweet-scented flowers will cover the branches in the spring letting you know that spring has well and truly sprung!

Your Bloomerang® is a reblooming Lilac, and after its spring flush, it takes a short rest in June then begin to re-bloom in July and continues until the frost. While most Lilacs bloom for a few weeks in the spring, the Bloomerang® will bloom for months!

The blooms from summer to fall will be a darker purple than the spring blossoms. It's like having two shrubs in one! Imagine fragrant lavender bouquets in your home for spring, and darker purple floral arrangements decorating your home in the fall.

The Bloomerang® has a compact, mounded shape that fits easily into any landscape. It would be perfect in smaller spaces, or as a low, divinely fragrant border. However, it's also ideal as a foundation plant or in a container to add height and drama. Place it in a decorative container on the patio and enjoy months of blooms.

The Lilac is a classic flowering shrub that has been a favorite for generations. Wildlife loves Bloomerang®, but deer tend to pass it by. Overall, it's a strong grower that will produce well while requiring little from you in return. As if the bright, repeating display weren't enough, Bloomerang acts as an irresistible draw to butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds with its rich fragrance. One wildlife visitor you won’t need to worry about is deer! They usually pass this shrub by in favor of tastier meals except in times of desperation.

Planting and Application:

Bloomerang® Lilacs spring blooms look amazing in mixed-borders and foundation plantings where their three seasons of interest really can show off! Try mixing up your living fences by mixing multiple types of Lilacs for a wide variety of color and bloom times! Or mix with other Bloomerang® varieties for pinks, lavenders, and purples twice a year!

This variety of Lilac would be a terrific choice as a floral border along your property line, or as a colorful hedge to brighten that bare, exterior wall of your garage. These will even do well in containers for your patio!

As a single specimen and focal point that will add eye-catching curb appeal making traffic-slowing down to have a look! Be the envy of your neighborhood with a row separating your property from the road! Screen your property from an eyesore on a busy side street, or your backyard from a nosy neighbor with these fragrant blooming shrubs neither side of the fence will mind having between them!

That same compelling aroma is sure to tempt you into cutting a few branches for your kitchen table bouquets, making this remarkable Lilac variety a beneficial plant both inside your home and out. Birds and wildlife love the shelter and the leaves provide shade and shelter for you as well, so use strategically around seating areas and your property to best use these multi-purpose shrubs!

Envelop a seating area, garden bench or breakfast nook on your patio with these luxuriously fragrant shrubs to better enjoy your time outdoors! The relaxing perfume will set the tone for your entire day and soothe the senses!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Lilacs bloom best in full sun and are easily grown in average, medium moist, well-drained soil. It will grow 10-12 spread and has a hardy nature and pleasant countenance. Provide moderate moisture consistently all growing season, but these shrubs can be adaptable to low moisture conditions once fully established. Mulch helps your plants stay cool and moist. Apply to a depth of three inches, then pull it away six inches from the stems.

Disease and deer-resistant so you'll be saved the time and trouble of dealing with costly measures to keep it safe from harm. If you live with deer in your area, apply repellent spray on planting day. Deer are hungry and curious, and you want to train them to leave your plants alone. Reapply according to the label.

Air circulation is important for Lilacs, so find a breezy place for them to perform at their best. It's best to avoid low spots or heavily enclosed locations that trap airflow. Fertilize in early spring and again in mid-summer with Dr. Earth Organic and All Purpose Fertilizer, following directions on the package.

Don't miss a single bloom! Follow these easy Pruning steps for the best flowering:

Right after the flowers are done, it's time to prune. Don't delay, as Lilacs will produce next year's flowers on the new growth from this year. Snip the past flowers, then remove inward-heading branches and the thickest stems out at ground level. The goal is to let the interior of the shrub have plenty of sunlight and air circulation.

Once your Lilac plants have been growing for about 10 years, you'll want to start a regular schedule of renewal pruning, and removal of suckers (when needed). After the blooms are fading, cut a few of the oldest, thickest branches right down to the ground each year. The younger, thinner branches remain and keep your plant vigorous and healthy.

Renewal pruning is great for your Lilac shrub. Removing the oldest growth lets the new branches take their turn. The youngest branches will produce the best bloom for you the following spring. Prune to keep an open interior to reduce the chances of powdery mildew.
