Beauty Plum (Prunus salicina 'Beauty') also known as the Beauty Japanese Plum, is a fruit-bearing tree with highly ornamental features! Plant one in a sunny location in your yard where you can enjoy its spring flowers and early harvest of outstanding plums.

Similar in flavor and texture to the Santa Rosa Plum, these medium-sized fruits not only provide fresh Plums but they're also the perfect plants for dual purpose landscaping to make use of all the precious space in your landscape!

The sumptuous plums ripen from late June to mid-July, following the abundant bloom of delicate, white flowers that blanket your Beauty Plum tree in spring. Your Beauty Plum tree provides a delicious harvest of tasty treats earlier than many other plum varieties.

The blooms attract a host of pollinators to your landscape to further add to the spring show and of course, produce amazingly beautiful fruit! Each juicy, sweet globe of fruity perfection will dangle from your tree, declaring its readiness when its yellow skin becomes overlaid with a dramatic, scarlet blush.

Everything about the Beauty Plum tree is well, beautiful! The red-highlighted, amber flesh is sure to start you salivating in expectation of its sweetness long before the luscious juice touches your tongue!

A very cold hardy tree with low chill hours, these are adaptable to a wide range of growing zones, doing especially well in coastal regions. Quickly reaching their mature height of 12-15 feet tall, plant this self-fertile tree with another Japanese Plum variety for larger yields.

How to Use Beauty Plum Tree In The Landscape

Gorgeous ornamental blooms and a fantastic tree as a specimen or focal point for front yard landscaping. Beauty Plum is a lovely deciduous tree with a rounded nature, early fruit production, and a faster-growing habit, so you won't have to wait long to see results!

Plus, Beauty Plum is a smaller, Japanese Plum tree so you won't have to provide a large amount of space in your yard in order to try one of these terrific trees. Mostly self-fertile, you'll enjoy sizeable harvests from a single tree. However, for larger harvests, plant this with a second tree. Not everyone has room for a second tree, so try this high-density planting trick!

The perfect size to create shade over garden beds and patios, these lovely trees are ideal to plant in the backyard where you can bask beneath the dappled shade of their leaves. Enjoy the spring bloom from outside your favorite window or set up a seating area beneath the fruit and pluck them directly from the tree!

Ripe just in time for the summer barbecue season, grill these red blushed gems over the grill to caramelize the sugars, or use them for preserves and chutney! Of course, these are amazing healthy treats straight from trees branches!

Create a small orchard or prune into hedgerows of Plum trees to achieve maximum yield, as well as create property definition and privacy full of delicious fruit!

#ProPlantTips For Care

Hardy in USDA hardiness zones 4 through 10, Beauty tends to be most productive in cool, rainy conditions. It's self-fruitful but will do best with other pollinators nearby. Beauty has a low chill hour requirement and is outstanding for warmer climates.

Your fruit tree requires full sun for the most vigorous growth and largest harvest. Give your tree at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, favoring the drying power of the morning sun. Situate in an area that is protected from frost pockets and with good air circulation. Prune to keep an open canopy so that both sunlight and airflow reach the interior.

While somewhat drought-tolerant, it's best to protect your investment by providing supplemental watering in times of need. Provide ample water for your young tree while it becomes established, not allowing it to dry out between waterings. Then reduce your watering to moderate, yet consistent moisture during the heat of summer and when fruiting.

For best results, fertilize your tree regularly with Dr. Earth Fruit Tree Fertilizer or a good organic, slow-release fertilizer. Add Nature Hills Root Booster while planting for a life-long symbiotic relationship with the root system.

Plant your tree in rich, organically enhanced, well-drained soil, adding compost and manure to further enrich the soil. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill.
