Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. The National Audubon Society presents a new line of native plants and trees that helps birds and wildlife thrive in your area! Known as the Southern Hackberry, the Audubon® Native Sugarberry Tree (Celtis laevigata) is a hardy native Elm tree relative, with no worry about Dutch Elm disease! Also known sometimes as the Sugar Hackberry.

A tough shade tree that tolerates wind and storms, they’re great street trees or lawn specimens with few issues! Early spring brings green flowers for pollinators and early fall offers sweet and nutritious reddish-brown fruit for birds! The abundant fleshy berry-like drupes mature to deep purple and are edible by people too.

The broad, rounded, open crown of spreading or slightly drooping branches. Yellow fall color and twiggy branches make choice nesting sites for tree-dwellers. The mature gray bark develops the Hackberry’s well-known warty texture.

Planting and Application:

Sugarberry Trees are ideal shade trees and street trees! Also, fantastic lawn and specimen trees the broad limbs provide habitat and wildlife nesting, while shading your home. Reduce cooling costs by planting one of these trees to block the sun beating on your home!

Benefits and attracts Thrushes, Mockingbirds, Waxwings, Orioles, Cardinals, Turkeys, Grouse, Quail, Ducks, & Pheasants, while providing insect food and shelter for many more! Even people can snack on the date-like fruit, however, these are best left for your birds because of the large seeds.
